Guest guest
I don't know if I have joined the right support group or not. If not please tell me, and I will unsubscribe. My husband has experienced some extreme pain in his back, lower on either side. He weight 240 (he is 5'10) abut a year ago, he has since dropped down to 170 or less, repidly since then. His face looks drawn, ragged, his skin seems to hang on him like he has no muscle mass and he is tired so much. He describes being in pain almost all the time, but as I said this last week was the worst, and he thought he was passing a kidney stone. There was blood in his urine, and he was doubling over. We go to a military hospital and got in a one day appointment. They just gave him pain pills, and said if he didn't feel better by the following wednesday (it was friday) he was scheduled to have a ct scan. His pain subsided somewhat, but I was determined he take the test anyway because it is continuous, and I felt something was wrong. He was originally to have the CT scan with enema. Instead they took some preliminary scans, then sent him over to lab to have lab tests. After waiting forever for the lab results he finally had the test, no enema, but he did have the IV dye scan. I called the nurse at the clinic where we go today (he went back to work, he works some days under the table as he tries to get full VA benefits), said he felt good enought, but truthfully, he was worried about the money. anyway, as I said I called, to make a follow up appointment, none available until february. but I asked her to see if the results were up. They were and she read them, then read them to me. they scared the crap out of me, and I don't know what to do. The ct scan said it showed he had renal/kidney disease, something about his liver and something about a cyst on his kidney. I cant remember the order or exact words, it all was a jumble to me. It said he needed follow up MRI to verify, didn't say anything about the blood tests, I don't know. She said she was going to stick it under the doctors nose to see what he wanted to do about it. Tht was early this morning. does anyone know what this means, does it mean he has cancer, kidney failure, or leading to kidney failure, the fact the the ct said this is pretty conclusive isnt it, even though they said MRI should follow up. I'm scared, and I dont know what to tell him when he comes home. because I don't know what it means, or what it means for his future. I do know he has been sick for awhile now. He has major mood swings, some dizzy spells and seems to have some kind of memory loss that is really weird. He will go through days at a time where I cant get him out of bed, almost like he is sedated, then other days, he seems fine. can someone help me or lead me to the right place to go., linda
