Guest guest
The thing to watch out for is that sometimes when your Hct gets too high, your doc might stop procrit altogether for a while. They did this to me when I was on PD and I really bottomed-out. I don't recall the Hct but I felt just awful. Tapering is much better. Marty fatigue I was diagnosed with IgAN in October and am always tired. I am not just tired from a stressful day or just tired on occasion, but am totally exausted all the time. If I go shopping for an hour or so it takes me two days to recover, I asked my nephrologist if it was because of the IgAN and he said no it wasn't related and that the only affects of IgAN that I should notice is blood in my urine. I've been to my general practioner and my gynocologist and they can't find any thing wrong with me. I am 27 years old and am in perfect health other than the IgAN, is my nephrologist wrong, can IgAN cause such fatigue? I don't even take the ace inhibitor the dr. precscribed for me because it makes me so weak and tired that I can't even get out of bed. I've tried everthing that I could think of to increase my energy level, even yoga and meditation, but nothing seems to work. Do you have any suggestions or does anyone else have the same problem? Guest guest
I hate feeling depressed, i hate some of the thoughts i have. I'm trying to snap out of it but find it very very hard, writing this is very very hard. Do you ever feel that even though you might have lots of people around you , you are the loneliest person in the world? Guest guest
The amount of times I thought that are countless. " People dont understand me " , " dont care " , " why should they care " ... and so on. But when I get a hug from my family, a smile from a friend, I know that I am only as alone as I think I am. Perception is everything. Re: fatigue > > > > > > > I think it is related...I've found fatigue after playing tennis for > > awhile, > > > or cutting the lawn. Guest guest
Kaz Depression in itself is a recognised illness. It is a well known fact that if you are on many drug therapies this can alter the brains perception, thus changing your moods. Of course life events can also cause depression. I work as a volunteer for a mental health charity, and have undergone training on how to recognise depression etc. Please don't feel that you are alone, believe me you are not. I have suffered depression for many years for various reasons, and would say that this last year I have lost 'my little black friend', but you never know if and when it will return. Please seek advice from your doctor, who will advise you about your medications, and can sometimes tone it down to suit your needs. If you have someone you could talk to like a counsellor would help you a lot. Failing that please feel free to e:mail on my private address karen@..., and I would be happy to help you in anyway I can. Your not alone ok. Best wishes. Guest guest
Thanks Pierre, its interesting what you are saying about the beta blockers. I am on 50mg of atenolol and I must admit to feeling quite depressed these last 4 months or so. I can still carry on with normal life but I seem to be tetchy all the time and not very tolerant. Could this be due to the medication? Jeanie
Guest guest
Yes it could Jeanie. You should talk to your doctor. I'm not saying that's what it is necessarily, but this is a known possible side effect of beta blockers. Maybe there's something else you could be on instead. Guest guest
Hi Jeannie. What's your pulse rate? When I was on 50mg of atenolol my pulse got very low so they cut it to 25mg. I've been on that for 8-10 years. Marty Re: fatigue Thanks Pierre, its interesting what you are saying about the beta blockers. Guest guest
My wife is like that and she doesn't take anything : ) By the way, there is a new report out about the effectiveness of ARB's (Cozaar specifically in this study) vs atenolol. The link to it is on the News page of www.igan.ca Pierre Re: fatigue > Thanks Pierre, my hubby is on atenelol as well - no wonder we have both got > the grumps.!!!!! > > Jeanie > >
Guest guest
I can also relate to the fatigue problem. I'm a 24 (nearly 25) year old who was diagnosed with IgAN last April. My kidney function is still perfectly normal (my last creatinine was 0.8 mg/dl), but I still have the fatigue. But I do have other health problems, including asthma, diabetes, hypertension, and also occasionally go into atrial fibrillation, and I'm on about 5 different lots of medication at the moment. Unfortunately, I havent yet found anything to help with the fatigue, so I'm still working on that one. Anyway, all the best. kevin pirkle wrote: Hi, I'm a 30 yo male diagnosed 4 years ago after biopsy. I can relate with you. I stay exhausted most of the time. I'm lucky that I work in a family business, because I spend alot of time resting at home. I take Vasotec, Avalide, Toprol, and Lopid to control blood pressure & cholesterol. Neph says that none of the meds should cause exhaustion. I know that I'm not imagining things, because I stay weak and tired all of the time. I have always been very active until the past year when I started feeling so tired. I've even quit drinking alcohol to try to regain energy, but that really hasn't made a difference. Taking multi-vitamins(Wal Mart brand) has helped some. huntmetx wrote: I was diagnosed with IgAN in October and am always tired.
