Guest guest
Lilhouselin: Please look at photos for " steven johnson syndrome " . if she has this- it can be life threatening. when you mentioned eye involvement, that is classic SJS. (its not always from drug reactions). Better safe than sorry- 90% of doctors are clueless about SJS, and only refer to emergency dept when it's very late stage. Here's a few sites- I hope other parents will make themselves familiar with these pictures- it starts out with a " simple " red rash.... : http://www.sjsupport.org/photo1.shtml http://dermis.multimedica.de/dermisroot/en/30254/diagnose.htm http://www.med.cmu.ac.th/dept/pediatrics/06-interest-cases/ic-38/case38.html http://www.dermnet.com/s--Syndrome RE: WSJ Article on XMRV Just wondering if anyone has any ideas and/or feedback about a rash my daughter has on her face. She has a red dermatitis looking rash on her chin now spreading to her cheeks and around her eyes are very red. Her " doctor " said she just has irritated skin and recommended Cetaphil. It has gotten worse since then. Any thoughts? She supposedly has no allergies. She is taking supplements and is GFCF but no medications. Guest guest
My son started something like this when he was young. It was a dry red rash like eczema on his whole face and around his eyes like a mask. One dermatologist told me to have him checked for a genetic zinc deficiency condition, he said it looked just like it. All doc's blew me off and would not test for it. It didn't quite look like the pics on the net, but it was close. The zinc deficiency causes mental retardation. Anyway, over the years it has changed and only comes in the winter. It doesn't cover his whole face anymore, but has in the past spread to his arms and trunk. Just patches. Milk agravates it.I thought last year I got it to stop with vitamin D and no milk, but this year it is not responding as well. I guess it's just a weird form of ezcema. Let me know if you find out what your daughter has! Theresa RE: WSJ Article on XMRV Just wondering if anyone has any ideas and/or feedback about a rash my daughter has on her face.
