Guest guest
Hi susie Malic acid is generally used to detox muscle from something that builds up in muscle especially after exercise ( unfortunately I cant remember what that substance is)unles its lactic acid.Where you describe your pain in the side of the thigh it what it sometimes referred to as the IT band aka the TFL band.It is a sheath of faschia that covers the muscles which on occasions, especially with fibromyalgia type pain, tightens and shrinks and causes pain.I have also had muscle spasms in those muscles that are nearby this band of fascia. What works for me is really deep massage or rolling of the muscles or a techique using cupping but using oil or lotion on the skin prior to placing the cupping device and then running it up and down the length of the muscle. It hurts but then relaxes the muscle after a whilea technique I use with muscle spasms is to use both hands, one on either end of a muscle, put pressure on the muscle and gradually try to bring your hands towards each other while maintaining the pressure. You will get only so far, and then simply hold that pressure in that position. When the muscle relaxes you will feel a release or you may be able to move your hands another little bit closer together. When that happens. use slightly more pressure and very very very slowly pull your hands apart ( such that you are stretching the muscle). This technique should calm the muscle spasm. Its easy to do for ourselves if its in the front of the leg muscles but elsewhere you might want to have someone else do the techniquejan ( former LMT prior to lyme)OT: Muscle spasms was Re: Malic Acid supplements Posted by: "tim2buk" tim2buk@... tim2buk Date: Tue Jun 5, 2012 6:55 am ((PDT))Lena,When you talk about malic acid, A-SG or baking soda for muscle pain, do you think that would also include muscle spasms? For years I have had tight hard lumpy areas in my upper back/shoulder blade area that never go away. I use a high-bounce ball against a wall & lean into the painful areas & it is excruciating, but sometimes it helps minimally. For the last few years, I have developed these lumpy painful areas along the side & front of my thighs which is making it harder & harder to walk because my legs are weak. Often times I can feel the spasm start in the front of my thigh & if I massage it for a few minutes, it will get unbearably itchy & I can't make it stop itching for a long time. Then the next day the muscle hurts alot from all the rubbing & scratching that I did. I did try malic acid years ago & it didn't seem to help me then, so that was why I was asking about your muscle pain. It must be different from the spasms. I wish I knew what was causing these spasms & what to do for them. I take 600 mg mag daily. I wonder if any of the co-infections cause muscle spasms. I welcome any comments about other people's experiences/successes with alleviating muscle spasms. Thanks.Susie "Im not trying to counsel any of you to do anything really special, except to dare to think, and to dare to go with the truth ,and to dare to love completely." -R.
