Guest guest
Listmates, I do not have the history between & some of the other parents but here is a post of mine that was blocked in the SCIA list. I do not want to relitigate the thread from previous days but just wanted to forward this as I wonder how objective some of these posts bashing protocols/doctors are - are they coming from a parent or someone who has vested interest and using some tactics to move parents from one practice to other or recruiting parents so their research can be funded etc. I really don't know but it appears there are some conflicts and/or prior history. It is hard enough for us parents to navigate thorough this but these things probably make it harder. I was merely asking for the basis of your assertion. It is a pretty serious claim so I am curious. Microglia can become activated by invading pathogens (ie. viral, bacterial or fungal) and result in many of the problems explained in the following page. Many researchers around the world believe that by treating the microglial activation the mental illnesses will go away. The protocol is good for treating infections, but it lacks the understanding of how to treat the microglial activation. We have to provide the data that children with autism suffer from microglial activation as described by s Hopkins School of Medicine. http://www.neuro.jhmi.edu/neuroimmunopath/autism_findings.htm Autism According to SCIA http://www.stopcallingitautism.org/autism.html Regards, > > What is microglial activation? Guest guest
Kay, those are very valid questions you have and they should have been addressed instead of blocked. However, I have a valid question that should be addressed here too. is correct that in SOME children there is most likely microglial activation even after treatment. Has it ever occurred to that there was another UNKNOWN PATHOGEN that was causing microglial activation that may not have addressed? In an abstract that was presented by the Whittemore Institute in September, a small study was done to test for XMRV, a human retrovirus, and its occurrence in children with autism. 82% of children were found to have this retrovirus. That is a very large percentage, even in such a small sample. That means that there is most likely another very serious microbe causing microglial activation and those microglia still have a purpose in the brain: protection from a retrovirus. We have to get to the bottom of this, if our children do have this retrovirus, it MUST be addressed and taking Motrin will not be enough help our kids need. Answers are coming soon, and it looks like our kids who do not benefit from will need antiretrovirals and immunemodulating drugs. There is a listserve discussing this and news surrounding XMRV/ASD/CFS and it is called neuroimmune-xmrv-alliance if you anyone is interested in learning more.
