Guest guest
It depends on the anti-depressant. My Liver Doc put me on anti-depressants for a full 8 weeks before I started treatment... I stayed on them thru treatment and came off them afterwards. I am back on them now. Actually the same on I was on before. Guest guest
Hi AnneMarie I personally think that most Pmeds arent very good for our livers. Some though are worse than others. A lot of folks here use some sort of head-med. They can tell you what works for them. I use Seroquel and Ativan to sleep, and for PTSD [post trama stress syndrome]. Neither is good for my liver, but I gotta sleep, and cannot live in a constant state of panic. Ive taken most everything else too, but weeded myself off everything but those absolutely necessary. I just deal with depression mostly. Now when I go on treatment I may have to take other stuff. Dont know yet. Your best bet is to let your Hdoc prescribe for you. He/she will know whats best for you, and your liver, and can make adjustments if needed. My Headdoc doesnt know squat about the liver, so my meds come streight from my Hdoc. If you are prescribed any med, I can research it for you, and tell you everything about it. Just give me the med name, and I will find info on it. Feel free to ask. I dont mind. love don in ks From: Rain <annamariestitt@...>Subject: [ ] anti-depressants? Date: Monday, April 19, 2010, 7:29 PM anyone got advice about the depression? Guest guest
I honestly don't know what Levothroxine is; however, I really don't believe that Estogen is harmful to the liver. The prozac is probably to help keep your sanity and I take about 60 mg's of Celexa every day for just that reason. Ambien, of course, for sleep and I take Zopaclone instead. Honestly, don't know that I would be here if it wasn't for the anti-depressants and the sleep med; so, those I leave up to my Dr's and Pharmacist to warn me about. My GP prescrips and my Gastro approves and my Pharmacist has never warned me - so I'm happy about that!! I'm a great believer in my Pharmacist... I have stuck to a small Pharmacy where all the staff know me personally and the big boss will always warn me if something isn't right. I can even call him to look it up if I prescribed something I'm not sure of.Gloria Thank you, I am genotype 1a & I am going to a new doctor tomorrow but here is the list of pills I now take:Estrogen .9 mgLevothroxine 75 mcgProzac 20 mgAmbien 10 mgLiver Support (milk thistle & dandelion)L-LysineVitamin C 1000 mgB-Complex 100 Fish oil 1000Glucosamine Chodrotin I appreciate any advice, I am most concerned with the prozac & ambien."Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain" From: Rain <annamariestitt>Subject: [ ] anti-depressants? Guest guest
Levathyroxine is a thyroid replacement hormone for hypothyroidism. It is what I take every day for the rest of my life. > > > > > >>From: Rain <annamariestitt> > >>Subject: [ ] anti-depressants? > >> > >>Date: Monday, April 19, 2010, 7:29 PM > >> > >> > >>anyone got advice about the depression? Guest guest
I take Levothyroxin as well for my thyroid... have taken it every day since 2001. I was taking Cenestin for about 2 years, maybe less after my hysterectomy til my best friend who is a nurse got wind of it... she told me not to take it as it could cause more problems down the line.. we had a long talk about hormone replacement drugs and I stopped taking those that day... she actually took the bottle from me. It took a few weeks to have the hot flashes go away but I've been off it for over a year with no problems. I am not a fan of hormone replacement drugs anymore. I also take blood pressure meds, Lasix and Celexa as an antidepressant. Neurontin was prescribed today for pain from the Fibromyalgia and to help me sleep.. I also take Clonopin but the new doc is going to get me off that nasty drug. TeriFrom: sparkles43d <sparkles43d@...>To: Sent: Fri, April 23, 2010 1:59:35 AMSubject: [ ] Re: anti-depressants? Guest guest
Hello everyone and thank you for your input. I have been taking the levothyroxine for hypothyroid since for 31 years now so I am more concerned with the other meds and interaction. I am going to the doctor today... I am a little upset because I was supposed to have my insurance card yesterday and don't know if it will be ready today but have to see doctor anyways...oh well..."Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain"From: Teri Gottlieb <theresagottlieb@...>Subject: Re: [ ] Re: anti-depressants? Guest guest
Hello... Has anyone in this group have their child come off the anti-depressants dr. G prescribes? If so, how did your child come off the pill ( schedule) and how was their reaction once off the meds? I've been considering taking my child off the anti-depressants. It's something I don't feel comfortable giving him... Thank you.
