Guest guest
 Caroline, My daughter's NK cells are very low but she does not stay sick with colds etc. Her DAN says that her GI issues and cognitive " brain fog " is the way her sickness shows. That she is constently sick and her immune system is in hyper mode all the time. The only hope she gives me is altering her food intake. She has " sensitivities 1+ and 2+ to some foods. She takes Valtrex/Acyclovir, lauric acid and lysine to help with the effects of her viral load shown thru her titers etc. She occasionally takes an antifungal. Is there anything that you know that could help?  Thanks, Petra From: Caroline Glover <sfglover@...> Subject: Re: Re: New here.... Date: Thursday, January 6, 2011, 1:58 AM  , One clue is a child who ³never gets sick²... theoretically, they have a body that is in attack mode, all of the time, so they don¹t get sick. When you think about it, that¹s not a good thing... it¹s not good for a body to be constantly flooded with antibodies. One reason is the theory of molecular mimicry, where the antibodies might get confused and attack something they shouldn¹t (strep triggering rheumatic fever is a good example of this). HTH, Caroline G. _________________________________________________________ Hi everyone. I have been reading a something just came to me. If a child's immune system is overactive (as I think my child's might be) what would be the signs if any prior to testing? Also wondering, would the treatments be the same (like the anitvirals, antifungals, etc.)? We haven't started this protocol yet, but very interested and researching. Guest guest
Petra, I have 2 sons whose NK cell counts are not coming up on Immunovir the way Dr. Goldberg would like them to, and due to this he has become more focused on their diet than ever (diet has always been a big issue). He feels that something in their diet may be preventing their bodies from getting those NK cells up. He is very attentive to their intake of bread at this point. My boys are constantly on an antifungal (they¹ve been on Diflucan, Nizoral or Amphotericin . I wish I had the answer for you. One thing I should have said when discussing the kids with hyper immune systems... just because they have a supercharged immune system, that does not mean their bodies are always efficient at fighting illness. A good example of this is my son, who (8 years ago) became so spaced out at school that I pulled him out for a few days (with his teacher¹s blessing). Dr. Goldberg had been watching his ASO (strep) titers for months, and he ended up putting my son on ERY PED. My son¹s spaciness improved so rapidly and drastically that when I sent him back to school, his teacher called me during the middle of the day to tell me it was a ³miracle². Now, my son did not have any symptoms of strep... no sore throat, etcetera. Dr. Goldberg said (and I am telling it how I remember it, not directly quoting here) that when people with normal immune systems have strep, the antibiotic wipes out most of the strep and then the person¹s own immune system cleans up the little bit that is left, but evidently my son¹s body was unable to do that. So after a bout of strep, there was this little bit simmering somewhere in his body that just wouldn¹t go away, even though he had high antibodies to strep in his blood. HTH, Caroline G. Guest guest
Hey Caroline, I think that's a good explanation, especially about the strep. That's my experience, & it just happened with my youngest too. I only " catch " two illnesses just about ever - strep, and mycoplasma. Knock on wood, I never catch anyone's cold, flu, or anything else going around either. Oh - except chicken pox. I have a tiny breakout every time I'm exposed - 4 times I've been diagnosed with chicken pox, but the only severe case (and the only one that I have no doubt was chicken pox) was in my respiratory system instead of my skin. So yes, our immune systems can get so revved up. The food thing is so wierd. There are sometimes reasons we don't know about why some people can have certain foods and others can't. I know Ms Goldberg has a lot of knowledge about that and can remember discovering some 'good' nutrient in a food my son was eating that was also known to do this which would cause that and it turned out bad. How vague was that? lol. Seems like it was arganine or something like that. ________________________________ From: Caroline Glover <sfglover@...> Sent: Fri, January 7, 2011 9:18:10 AM Subject: Re: Re: New here./Caroline  Petra, I have 2 sons whose NK cell counts are not coming up on Immunovir the way Dr. Goldberg would like them to, and due to this he has become more focused on their diet than ever (diet has always been a big issue).
