Guest guest
Thanks so much for your post. He has been on the GF/CF plus many other things free for a year now and I honestly have not seen the results I hoped for. Not much has changed. He is not constipated is all. And he does not have diarrhea now. I have so many things going on right now, including water flooding my basement!!!!!! I am ordering that SCD diet book. I just feel it will help him greatly for some reason. Trish > > HI, I'VE HAD MY 16 YR. Guest guest
Hi, there is a " trying_low_oxalates " group, moderator is Owens, (A DAN researcher). The group has lots of files that have useful reading, some parents on that group do SCD/low oxalate combo diets. The files have lots of info/links to help you too. na > > I know some of you have experience with this but I am considering this > diet. Guest guest
Thanks . My son has very bad yeast issues. I have followed the DAN Docs diet and he still has messy stools. This is why I was looking at this diet. Wow, very restrictive! I don't want to change anything right now as we have just started with the right oils and nutriveda. I am hoping to be one of the lucky ones who reports a surge! Thanks, Anni Sent from my BlackBerry® powered by Virgin Mobile. [ ] SCD diet There are a couple of hundred messages from a handful of parents (including me) that discussed the SCD diet route in the archives. Do you know how to search the archives? If you go to the actual website for the group and click on " messages " you'll see the search engine for the group right up on top. There is a search even on the home page but a bit harder to find as it's lower on the right side of the page. It works for messages older than a few months old (one of the reasons we want to move to BigTent) Like anything if your child for medical reasons needs to be on such a strict diet than you have to do what you have to do. Here's a list of what your child would be able to eat on this diet...and in just about all cases if you don't see it here on this list it's not allowed: * Foods to eat o Fresh and frozen vegetables and legumes o Fresh, raw, or dried fruits o Fresh or frozen meats, poultry, fish, eggs o Natural cheeses, homemade yogurt, dry curd cottage cheese Limited sugar allowed on this diet... the only sweetener allowed is honey. This is a full list of " legal " and " illegal " foods on this (again very strict) diet http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/legal/legal_illegal_a-c.htm If not medically recommended I personally would (of course) not recommend such a limiting strict diet to " try it " as a first step for a growing child as there are other much more simpler things we've found to work (like the right formula of fish oils and now nutriiveda both of which you can consume with a normal diet if one wanted) which are benign and simple and relatively inexpensive to try. As always make sure that the child is also receiving the appropriate therapies for his or her diagnosis and if school age that the child is provided with appropriate placement. The brain responds to multiple stimuli and to address the multifaceted communication impairments the best approach in my opinion is a multifaceted approach. =====
