Guest guest
Dr. G recently changed our sons anti-fungal since it had been one year. I was not expecting any change, but he's been hyper and unfocused for 13 days now- is this to be expected? Thanks, Colleen
Guest guest
Colleen, Any time you change antifungal or antiviral, you might experience a die off for a week or two. That is a sign that the medicine is doing the job. The good news is that the healthier they become, the less severe the die off seems to be. After all this time, still has this issue. Recently his antiviral stopped working. He told me he was tired, didn't feel well, and had a cold sore on his lip. I called the office and they switched him from Famvir to Valtrex. It had been a year on Famvir and he must have built up a tolerance to the med. So it was time to switch. In less than a week, he was back to feeling well and the cold sore was gone. The hard part is knowing when this is happening with kids with limited verbal ability. Don't worry, he will be back and even better soon.
