I started with normal TSH levels, but my doc also tested my anti-thyroid

antibodies, which were extremely high (>500). This is when I started

supplementation. Since then my TSHs have never been norml, though all my

brothers have hypothyroidism as well. I have tried Armour, but my numbers were

too erratic, so I switched back to Synthyroid. I felt the best on Synthyroid

and Cytomel (synthetic T3).

Terry - I also had normal thyroid blood tests, but had a long list of symptoms

(including low basal temp) pointing to hypothyroidism. I started Armour Thyroid

and started to feel much better - higher body temp, more energy, less aches and

pains. I've since learned that thyroid blood tests are not the best diagnostic

tool. If you want to research this yourself, I'd recommend these 2 books:

Hypothyroidism Type 2 by Mark Starr MD

Stop the Thyroid Madness by Janie Bowthorpe

Good Luck,

Yes my basal tests were screwy but blood tests fine yet I had all symptoms of thyroid probs. Ask for test for reverse T3 which quite a few of us Lyme patients have. I have rev t3 and I’m now on straight t3 and doing much better. Mum has been on armour and cannot lose weight (mum is also a lymie) she is now trialing t3. I went off t3 to test and got cold and gained 3 kg in 4 weeks. Good luck with your choices. I would test for rev t3 first as if you have this armour will make you worse, if not, it should make you feel heaps better. I am not a doc it is just my personal experience. Terry - I don't take MMS, so I'm not sure if it would have any impact on armour

thyroid. I've been using an EMEM for almost a year now, but also started using

a coil machine about a month ago. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid and Lyme at

about the same time. I started on low-dose Armour about the same time as I

started on antibiotics. I didn't feel much relief from the Armour back then

because my body was overloaded with lyme and co-infections - so I stopped taking

the Armour and focused on killing the lyme & co. I started the Armour again

about 6 months ago. This time, it was like flipping a switch - I felt

improvement immediately. I believe that the rife usage lessened the pathogens

enough that my body could finally focus some energy on thyroid function. Of

course, everyone is different - this is just how my body responded.

- My doc requests the usual tests, including Thyroid antibodies, Free T3 &

Free T4, also Reverse T3. If nothing looks alarming, he adjusts dosage

depending upon my symptoms (body temp, energy levels, blood pressure, heart

rate, etc). I've only been taking Armour for 6 months so far, so I'm certainly

NOT an authority on the subject ;).

You may have killed off some LD in your thyroid. Candida attacks it too.

Taking a good source of iodine/iodide like Lugol's or Iodoral is also quite

helpful. Chlorine and Bromine (both toxins) tend to replace the essential

organs in our body tissues, especially the glands.

Khaya - You bring up some interesting points. I never thought that the Lyme may

be in the actual thyroid gland, but it certainly makes sense. I also started

taking Iodoral about a year ago, which may also be helping things work better.

We really have to be detectives to learn how to navigate through this disease!

Thanks for your insight.

It is believed that those of us with Lyme should never trust the results

of the TSH test...Free T3, Free T4 and Reverse T3 are trusted tests..

And many with Lyme seem to do best with Armour as

opposed to Synthroid...

Take care,

Jim

What if your body has trouble converting the free T4 to T3? The Free T4 would

then not be a definitive gauge.

Jim,

I went to bed last night thinking that I misread your post....yup, you did

include the Free T3....sorry about that. :)

I would also include the thyroid antibody test for Hashi's.

Dr. Brownstein also has written on book on thyroid: OVERCOMING THYROID DISORDERS, as well as one on hormones: THE MIRACLE OF NATURAL HORMONES. Hi ,

I didn't respond to your first post because I already read this post...

You have to get up pretty early in the morning to fool me, uh well

up to 11:00AM is okay... :-) Ya know, insomnia..

I actually did those tests from memory, I have my done every 4 months

and I thought I had it right....

Thanks for checking on me anyway, I would rather the info be right than

wrong!

Take care,

Jim
