Guest guest
I've been reading posts on this group for many months now and have made the decision to make the journey from North Carolina to take my son to see Dr. Goldberg this April over his spring break. I have an 8 year old son named Garrett and we have been to several DAN docs and a few NOT considered to be " DAN " since he was 2 years old. So, as you can imagine we have done it ALL! Garrett has come such a long way and is considered to be very high functioning at this point but there are several issues that just won't clear up. The more I read about the more I feel that this could be the missing piece for my son. His remaining issues are gut problems that won't clear up permanently no matter how many anti fungals or antibiotics we throw at him. (He is currently GF/CF, low sugar) we recently ran allergy panels (IgG and IgE) and there are NO offending foods or allergens that are causing an immune response. OCD is also a BIGGIE, he gets obsessed with topics such as his current favorite, airplanes, and he refuses to do anything other than Google airplanes or watch you tube videos of them. He is in a " typical " second grade class and works on grade level, although he gets easily distracted and has a hard time focusing. He still has difficulty making friends because he wants to obsess on airplanes all the time and most 2nd graders can only take so much of that. The doctor I am working with currently feels certain that he has an immune dysfunction which is causing all of the " gut bugs " and OCD but she has no clue how to treat it. He has been on LDN since October in an attempt to shift the immune response. We have seen no positive benefits so far. She also recently tested his neurotransmitters and said his balance was completely off...the worst she has seen. My question to you all who have done the protocol and worked with Dr. Goldberg is do you think my son can still make significant gains at this age? Has Dr. G. been able to turn these symptoms around, especially the OCD? I would love to hear your thoughts! Also, because we have done HBOT with my son in the past, Dr. G requires a SPECT scan to be done with Dr. Uszler at Huntington Radiology. Can anyone give suggestions about where to stay that would be convenient to BOTH Dr. Goldberg's office and Huntington Radiology? (We prefer places with a kitchen so we can cook and save some $$) I've learned so much from you all so far and I'm looking forward to getting started on this protocol with my son. It's so great to have such a knowledgeable group I can go to with questions and support! Thanks so much for all of your help.
