Does anybody know if coconut oil is O.K. with diet? It's one of the

ingredients in some Non-dairy ice cream.

Hi Robyn,

Coconut milk is considered tropical and therefore, for most of us in North

America, a forbidden food on the diet.

There were some recipes circulating a few years ago containing coconut milk,

as I believe it is highly used in the formerly popular SCD. Quite a few on

the list started trying it before Dr. G chimed in that coconut anything is

highly allergic and not to be used with his patients.

Sorry for the bad news. I know how it is to get excited about trying

something new.

Warm regards,

Lori

I thought Dr. G says no coconut or nuts & rice has whole grains in these

milks.Let me know if I am wrong. Hopefully this site could update the whole

diet protocol that would be great for these parents.

Thanks

Carole

I asked Dr. G in my update last week if I could use oil b/c oils aren't

suppose to contain the protein and he said no. so if you are following the

diet, then no.

I use a product called Dari-free. It's a powder and it works wonderfully for

making bread and is passable for cereal and cooking. Never been a big milk

person, my kids either.
