Guest guest
, I replied to your note, before I realized that you were doing the antifungal yourself, OTC. I don't know what to say to that. I understand your desire and need to help your child, but I would be fearful you may be doing more harm then good. You must get your doctor to write the script for Diflucan, or Nizoral. I was able to get my very conservative paed to do it under a trial circumstance for 3 months. If we saw no improvement we would discontinue. However, thankfully, we did see improvement and he didn't have a problem continuing and even changing a year later when Dr. G told us it was time to change. This is a long process and you will not be able to do it OTC for as long as it is necessary, nor is it the safe way to go about it. These are serious prescriptions meds and need careful monitoring and follow up through blood work. Please, please get your doc on board. Next time, also give your son more time between starting two major scripts. His body needs time to adjust and you need time to see what each one is doing. I understand your hurry, but in the long run, you may end up going backwards. A month here or there is worth it. You need to understand completely what is happening and your sons reaction and progress on each medication. Hang in there. He took some fluconazole last night and we have lost him today! He is twitching his eyes and has lost interaction. Our dr won't write a script for anything other than nystatin so I bought an over the counter Canesten oral tablet (150 mg pill) and split in thirds. I am really trying the best I can but with limited money and limited knowledge with our drs here it is very hard to get the help he needs... Guest guest
I am doing antifungal with my doctor, for my child, because we don't have the means to see Dr. G. He has been cooperative, but I was wondering how long should I make sure he keeps her on the antifungal? Do we need testing to determine if it's still needed and what type? She has been on it about 3 months now, diflucan. She had die off early on and is now doing fine although we haven't seen any major gains. I am worried he might want to take her off too soon. We see him in about 2 weeks. ________________________________ From: Lori <lbharris@...> Sent: Sun, February 20, 2011 7:17:54 AM Subject: RE: Switch antifungal and regression , I replied to your note, before I realized that you were doing the antifungal yourself, OTC.
