Guest guest
Where do I want to be the end of June? In HAWAII! On vacation! Yippee! We leave Chicago on June 20 and don't return until the morning of July 5. We got an incredible discount on our airfare if we flew on the 4th of July -- like about $300 per ticket -- and there are 6 of us going. We have rented a house with its own kitchen -- plan on sampling a lot of the local produce. One of the people going with us is a niece who just graduated from the culinary arts program at & Wales in North Carolina. House has a pool in the backyard -- plan on using that to get some daily exercise I've been having some wild dreams lately too. Think some is a bit of stress. Youngest son graduates from high school on June 6. Got lots to get done before his graduation party! Also, everything is starting to "green up" here and we have lots of standing water nearby from regional flooding -- so the allergies are not happy. Notice that when I have weird dreams; I usually wake up with a stuffed up nose in the morning. Not sure how or why that happens. May just be a coincidence.By the way, have you tried out the belly dance dvds? Do you like them?Dacia<><Deaf Lutheran Missionswww.DeafJesus.org Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Guest guest
Wow , you are right the year is almost half over and I have lost 4 pounds. Nothing to smile about. Glad you enjoyed your wog. I am not an exerciser. Never will be. So I applaud those of you who force yourself to get out there and move. Hooray for you. I am not that motivated. ABrite@... wrote: Last night, I set a goal to get up and go wogging this morning since I haven't been out on the streets officially since the 12K at the beginning of the month. I woke up at 7:30 a.m. after another <weird> dream (not pizza induced this time, though - LOL!) This time, and I can't remember any details, it was about my sister, who has been deceased since 1986 (22 years??) - holy cow! So. Wogging. Yep. I woke up at 7:30 and for 30 minutes, tried to convince myself there were good reasons to NOT have to go (LOL) - I mean, I did log 16000-plus steps yesterday! It was cool, windy, a holiday, etc. If you can name it, it probably went through my head as an excuse to not want to or have to. Finally! At 8 a.m. I decide to JUST DO IT, GIRL! So I threw on my workout clothes, grabbed my iPod and went out the door. I *forced* myself to wog a total of a mile, so with my intervals, I was out there a total of 3 miles. I kept telling myself it doesn't matter if I walk 5 miles, I am wogging a mile before I am done LOL!! Oh.My.Gosh. Fifty-one minutes to go 3 miles - not bad, that is 17 min/mile.... and, it may have been broken up by intervals, but I got a mile done! Other than the fact that I was forced to workout today, it felt good (??) to be out there wogging. It's definitely a different workout than walking or jogging on the trampoline! Anyway. I have 2 younger boys coming over today (I think) for the holiday. I feel bad because I got nuthin' planned. I'd really rather wait until it is warmer to do something, ya know?? I am sure we'll throw something together. Youngest ds was convinced the city pools open today since it is "the start of summer" LOL - but after massive eSearching, I found the pools do not open until June 16th. WOW - May is almost over. I was just over surfing some of the blogs over at EP (ExtraPounds) and Miss V commented about her ultimate goal(s) for May and what she needs to accomplish this week to get there and it made me think: it's time to start thinking of the June goals! If I were on track for my year-long goal of 5 lbs a month, I would have lost 25 lbs at the end of May. I think I am at 10 lbs gone after a little brief yo-yoing this year. Sigh. 10 lbs is better than nothing, so I won't beat myself up. I am just stepping things up now for the rest of the year, though <wink> I don't want to rush the end of the month for you and then the new month, but have you started to think of where you want to be at the end of June? Come on! At the end of June, the year is half over! Have you spent the first half of the year wisely: making healthier eating choices and exercising more to get in better shape, etc? in WA310/249.6/170 (-60.4 total, 79.6 to go, 9.6 from half-way point) You are not stuck where you are unless you decide to be.--Dr. Wayne Dyer Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Guest guest
> Wow , you are right the year is almost half over and I have lost 4 pounds. I thought I was doing so good the past 2 weeks but just looked at my January journal, and with the recent weight loss of the past 2 weeks I'm now down a grand total of 2 1/2 pounds from Jan. 2. >I am not an exerciser. Never will be. In elementary school we had to do calisthenics every morning in the schoolyard before the bells rang, and that was in addition to the 3 times a week PE classes. My parents also forced me to do the exercises Jack LaLanne was doing on tv, plus I was a tomboy and always either on my bike, skates, or playing some kind of ball game with the neighborhood boys. PE back then wasn't sports and games like today's kids do - we did 45 minutes of calisthenics and running, and every year we had to pass the President's Council on Physical Fitness test, so lots of sit-ups and push-ups and pommel horse jumping. Even as one of the fat kids I passed every year, and once did more chin-ups than everyone else in my grade (3 classes of 40 kids each), including the boys. I was so *happy* when we did sports instead of calisthenics in high school, but hated gym days because the nuns wouldn't allow us to shower after class. We just put our school uniforms on right over our gymsuits and headed to the next class. *That* is when I first started to hate exercise. And as we all know, the less you do it the more you hate it when you have to do it again. I didn't get back into formal exercises until after I had my son, 25 years ago, and was no longer working at my busy nursing job and was no longer on my feet running around for 8 to 16 hours a day. Hugs, Jen From: Laureen Forman <lforman@...> Subject: Typical Date: Sunday, January 30, 2011, 1:35 AM  Hi Everyone - Just had to share this story  especially for those who question if Dr. G¹s protocol might work. I have a child who is nonverbal and who is a tough nutt  in every way - but, we¹ve been working with Dr. G for over a year and while this is no quick fix, and it¹s a long road too, this one made me really be happy today! I just had to do a shout out for my son today because I just realized something  he went to Ophthalmology today for an appointment to look at his eye because there is something in it and the Œassistant¹ took history and stuff and then actually proceeded to give him a regular eye exam! Really, my son presented typical? My kid  really! I then had to explain to her that he was nonverbal and she said she was new (and she wasn¹t, we¹ve seen her many times before but it has been a few years). She was embarrassed but I wasn¹t  I was happy!! You think he can do that  well he can but he will do it differently. I can¹t believe how happy I am that someone thought he could even do that! He seemed typical to her........I never thought I would be happy with typical but I so am!! YAY, we¹ve worked hard for this!! Sorry, I¹m beaming now! Just had to share! It¹s working, it really is.....and now, I know it¹s not just me!! Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!! Today was our day!! Laureen

Guest guest
AWESOME, Laureen!!!! I’m so happy to hear that, especially from you!!! My son has been with Dr. G for 5 years (mostly for “maintenance” now). He saw an orthopedist Friday for the first time and, like your son, presented as TYPICAL! I got to hang out with some other moms in the waiting area while my son got his x-rays and spacers between a couple of teeth to prepare him for upcoming braces. Yaaaaay for the behavior (boo for braces)! Kristy Nardini TazziniTM Stainless Steel Bottles <http://www.tazzini.com/> http://www.tazzini.com kristy@...
