Guest guest
Hi Terry,My herx pain has never responded enough to pain meds to make the damage they could do to my liver worthwhile. Some also could slow down the bowels: not something desirable in my case. By not using pain meds, when i do have something truly dramatic, like my GB attack or spraining my knee, they are more effective, used at onset and then using A-S G as follow-up. Alka-Seltzer Gold has no analgesics in it but it helps alkalize the body and I find that usually lessens pain noticeably. Just my experience. Not a doc, only a Lymie lab-rat.Be well,Léna My doc gave me percocets 10mg i am not big on pain meds so my question is what does everyone take for pain.Non steroidals i cant tolerate. Guest guest
Hi Terry,One more thing, which I often forget, as it's simply a long-established part of my life, but Reiki is great for pain. It's a hands-on energy technique, doesn't heal the body but provides it with energy to heal itself, and along the way, is a tremendous help in lessening pain, improving circulation to an afflicted area, and relaxing it so healing can occur more easily. If you can find someone in your area who practices Reiki or who is a Reiki master who can teach you how to practice it on yourself, it would be a good step away from pain. There's also a technique, probably similar, that some nursing staff are taught called therapeutic touch. I've heard good things about that, as well.I've used Reiki (translation: Rei=universal, Ki=energy) to ease the absolute worst pain (like back-ache labor, tic douloureux, burns, and other, over #10-type pain.) I've also been allowed to work in recovery rooms for clients after surgery, as it helps them clear their anesthesia faster so that they can be put on pain meds sooner.(They seem to need less of them, too.) Patients on either side may be moaning and suffering after surgery, but my clients sail through far more comfortably.Be well,Léna Thank You Lena All thoughts and responses are greatly appreciated . Guest guest
Hi Terry, When I’m having the worst lyme die off pain I use a non steroidal anti inflammatory prescribed by my Lyme doc called Movalis containing 7.5 ofmeloxicam.Reducing the inflammation, dramatically reduces my pain and increases movement back to a level I can manage again, far better than painkillers if I need something.Pain killers do not seem to touch the pain. Reducing inflammation also helps my circulation so that the antibiotics/herbs seem to be more effective too. I also find painkillers to cause constipation and slow up the detox pathways which is sooo important to keep clear. I use them only when I absolutely have to Cheers From: Lyme_and_Rife [mailto:Lyme_and_Rife ] On Behalf Of Lena GuyotSent: Monday, 9 July 2012 12:10 PMTo: Lyme_and_Rife Subject: Re: pain meds? Guest guest
Marie,Does DMSO work for pain and if so what form? I see so many forms at Swanson's, the gel, liquid, pill form...choosing one can be a bit overwhelming. Massive headaches and facial stinging are a big issue lately. Feel like I'm back at square one again after four years of improvement. I am trying not to take Tylenol and would like to find a good substitute. Much Peace,Juli
