Hey Kathy,

It really sounds like you're having a reaction to a food or supplement.  It

especially sounds like there may be a lot of soy protein in the diet (soybean

oil is fine, soy lecithen is evil if you're prone to aggression and oppositional

behavior from soy).  The hard thing about soy is that it can take weeks to

start

slowly causing problems, so you've long forgotten that there's any possibility

that it could be causing a reaction.  And then, once you stop all sources of it

(and it's in freaking everything), it takes a full 5 days before you start to

see improvement.  But you can be on it a long time, and life will just steadily

seem worse and worse.  It seems to get in the way of any other improvement.

The other two things we see cause aggression and oppositional behavior is

Zyrtec

& Allegra.  And boy, when the kid is on both & sensitive to both, wow.  Oh -

and

our most recent nasty trigger was Tenex.  I keep starting it and stopping it a

year later after I finally figure out that it's not doing well.

There are tons of other supplements and foods that could be triggers if he's

taking a lot of different types of supplements or eating a lot of replacement

foods, whole grains, carbs, etc.  I don't have enough experience with those.

Oh - and a nice ray of sunshine - pollen just showed up all over my car

yesterday in the south.  That's about to make all hell break loose for 70% of

us

- real fun coming up there.  Everyone's going to be like " He was doing great

until a few weeks ago... "   (Not to be discouraging or anything.)

Honestly I guess it could be viral, but usually with viral you're going to see

more things like loss of eye contact, foggy brain, dark circles (although

that's

more likely allergies), maybe fatigue (although in kids fatigue can be real

difficult to see because they can seem to be hyper at the same time they're

tired).  I'd suspect bacterial infections to cause it before viruses - like a

sinus infection, strep or mycoplasma pneumonia (ever present if you have a

chronic underlying infection).  Treating/suppressing viruses tend to be the

slow

impacting long term treatment for most people - but it's the one that most

likely has the most impact and the least dramatic signs.

That desperate need for deep pressure - I really do associate it w/bacterial

infections, at least in our life experience, as well as the meds mentioned

above.  It can also be yeast, but I see it improve here the most when either

boy

is on antibiotics.  One kid needs deep pressure & will even beg for 'slap

fights', and the other one will hang upside down and drape himself all over

everything, or lay on his head with his butt in the air (hilarious), and I've

noticed it is nowhere near that level after both have been on a round of

antibiotics.  If it were yeast, then the antibiotics would have likely made

that

worse, not better - except that we're all on antifungals and that keeps us very

level in the yeast area thank goodness.

It might be a good time to be weaning off supplements, especially the most

allergenic ones, and any megadoses of vitamins, and off any B12.  But I'm just

curious if any of the above are part of the daily regimine.

I hope you find a solution quickly - that's so miserable to go thru.  We just

came out on the better side of a whole year because of one thing my oldest was

eating for lunch that had soy lecithen, and while he got a lot better when we

finally figured that out & stopped it, it got even better as soon as we stopped

Tenex.  Now I look forward to coming home every day, which is just wonderful.

Subject: Viral behaviors ?

Hi,

I'm back from the past yr ago. I finally came to my senses and realized DAN for

7 yrs is not going to help us if it has not already done so. Thanks to a friend

of mine she got me back on track. We have an appointment with DR in 25

days ,yes I am counting down.

My son behavior is getting worse this month . He is grabbing therapist hair and

face. He was choking the consultant by pulling her scarf. It took another person

to get him to let go. He was crying so hard that he had purplish small dots all

over his face and behind his ears. I have never seen him mad like that in a long

while. Also he can not get enough deep pressure . I can literally sit on him and

he would love it. I guess I need a hug machine , Where is Temple Grandin?

For all that have been down the route have you experience these behaviors ?

I am assuming it can be Viral ? or Yeast or all of the above? Oh I hope I can

make it . It seems like each yr he gets worse. I also notice that the more

facial expressions and talking with enthusiasm he reacts better.

Thanks

Kathy

,

My son from under 6 months until over 3 had congestion , running nose, low grade

fever and a barking cough on and off along with ear infections. While going

through this off and on he started to say some words and just about when he was

suppose to string 2 words together he went into the brain fog. Then I lost my

son . He could not answer me ,. He was a child trying to start talking and

singing with me and then silence.

I do think it is bacteria , not sure what. He was off on on antibiotics during

ear infections. The strange thing I notice on his strep titers is that it was

way lower than the low range. Is that strange?I read that IGM on the low side is

saying immune system is stressed. I tried DAN and the doctors could never help

me with all this. We tried Tenex at 4 yrs old along with Zoloft. A neurologist I

spoke with told me that Zoloft can make some kids hyper and not calm. So I don't

know if it was the Zoloft or the Tenex making him still hyper.

He is off supplements. He is on Lamictal for behavior. Probably wean off this

since this really is not helping. He still can get in a rage even with Lamictal.

I was looking at my son brain spect scan and there are some red and orange spots

many areas . DO you know if that means inflammation? What type of antibiotics

have you seen used? I know if makes a difference on what type of bacteria. My

husband doesn't like using antibiotics a lot. He thinks the antibiotics used

when my son was younger messed him up to this condition.

Can you still be viral if you had these symptoms 7 yrs ago? My son has purplish

circles and is pale color. He doesn't have the rosy cheeks like the rest of us.

He used to be more in a fog when he was younger.I wonder if you can have a viral

kid and the symptoms were there ,but not address .Then the virus can go latent

inside him.

I'm thinking we might have more than one thing . Also I have a baby picture of

him when he look awful . He looks grayish with a running nose and in a brain

fog . His eyes were tearing up with the sickness . He would have a low grade

fever off and on. Also before he received his 15 month shots he had a swollen

lymph node behind his right ear. My gut said to leave, but darn doctor talk me

into it. So I am sure that didn't help his immune symptom . I will have to look

into this soy lecithen . Why do we have all this stuff in food. Do you just stay

away from all soy?

Best

Thanks . I wrote back a long reply last night 12 hours ago and I don't

see it. I don't know if I'm having problems posting or not. I'm testing to see

if this is posted. If so then I guess the other one is lost, I wish I can post

and it goes up right away. I'll look into what you mentioned.
