I don't know about Philadelphia, but in the South we have Jewish Community

Centers that are a tremendous help to anyone coming from Israel (not to mention

anyone in general in the community they serve), and could help set you up with

someone to sponsor you (not the exact term)... Have you contacted one in that

area?  I know if you were coming to the South, you would have a lot of helpful

resources, so I can only hope it will be similar in Philly.  I'll bet you can

also contact the school system you expect to be in prior to arriving too to get

general recommendations, especially regarding language concerns.

Good luck!

Subject: New family with 5 year old PDD-NOS diagnoses

Hi all,

we are moving to Philadelphia from Israel and looking for any helpful

information on what type of help will our son get in the US. Right now he speaks

only hebrew and we are moving there based on the work visa and naturally we are

extremely concerned about the type of help that we will be able to provide for

our son there.

Any help from you guys would be great.

thanks in advance.

Here is a link to the Philadelphia JCC.  Our JCC in Richmond had a great team

for early intervention for the summer camp and I believe Hebrew speaking staff

members.

There is a national organization called Friendship Circle, I checked and they

have a Philly chapter. It is run by the Chabad, though most of the participant

families are not orthodox. My son participates in the northern New Jersey one

and my daughter volunteers there. They have wonderful programs and resources

and you will find plenty of people that speak hebrew. The chapters vary in what

programs they offer, but I am sure they will be very helpful.

Good luck,
