Guest guest
It is my understanding that the primary cause of cognitive impairment (brain fog) in Lyme patients, is due to two main factors: 1. the accumulation of quinolinic acid in the brain, which is produced by the immune system, in response to infection. 2. the neurotoxin released by the Bb organism itself, which interferes with brain funtcion, directly. See this link for a very understandable explanation of how the Bb neurotoxin causes brain fog: http://www.lyme-symptoms.com/LymeNeurotoxins.html Note: it has also been postulated that Bb causes a build-up of ammonia in the brain, which impairs functionality. The die-off debris from coiling treatments (or any Bb killing treatment) is also neurotoxic. Detoxing is essential, in order to remove the toxins that cause the symptoms of ongoing brain fog, in additon to herxes. Detox substances that target the CNS (central nervous system), specifically, have been used successfully by members of this group. I personally have not used most of them, but I have used Pinella (brain and nerve cleanse) from the NutriMedix company, with excellent results - see this link: http://www.nutramedix.ec/ns/pinella (tip - the bottle says 10 drops. I use 60 drops or more at a time, with good results. Overdose is not an issue - check with the manufacturer). Below is a short list of other natural detox agents that target the brain and nervous system: Neuro Detox products from Jernigan Nutraceuticals: http://www.jernigannutraceuticals.com/Lyme%20Disease.html - and - http://www.jernigannutraceuticals.com/Neuro-Antitox%20II%20long%20new.htmlJernig\ an Neuro Antitox II Pale Spike Lobelia K-Mag-KG http://www.sourcenaturals.com/products/GP1171/ NH4 Redox by Ecological Formulas - Jane
