Guest guest
LEANNE, Here's what every Medicaid program must provide: 1. EPSDT, i.e., Early, Periodic, Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment services. SPECT-scan imaging would be either and/or both a Diagnostic and Treatment service. 2. Just like the 49 other state Medicaid programs, the Federal government also mandates that Medi-Cal must specifically provide: " (5) Such other necessary health care, diagnostic services, treatment, and other measures to correct or ameliorate defects and physical and mental illnesses and conditions discovered by the screening services, whether or not such services are covered under the State plan. He is probably the most knowledgeable radiologist in the world on the use of SPECT-scan imaging to assess improvements before/after HBOT. His web page is http://www.drspectscan.com . He will probably ask you for the " raw data " gathered during the scans, i.e., the data collected from which the physical copy of your scans was made. He has access to some extremely sophisticated equipment from which he can process the data from your scans and produce images from his equipment. Guest guest
Leanne, I had my son's pre- spect scan done by Dr. Uszler, (who just recommended and I would second that), the cost was about $1500. for the one scan. By the way, our insurance covered it. Lucinda LEANNE ANTAYA wrote: > > > Does anyone have a clue as to how much pre and post spect scans cost? > I've > been quoted $3000.00 just for one. Guest guest
Interestingly, many insurance companies (including Connecticut Medicaid) will not cover SPECT Scans if they are received in a hospital but will cover them if received at an out-patient facility. This is asinine! Re: [ ] Spect Scans > > >Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2006 01:10:31 -0500 > > > > > > >Hi, > > > > > > > >I have pre and post spect scans after 40 sessions of HBOT of my son > > > >. Guest guest
my SPECT scan, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN, for TBI, was " covered " by Medicare, but they only paid a few hundred dollars on a $3,000 charge. I don't think that is sustainable for the hospital. > From: rdbadge@... <rdbadge@...> > Subject: Re: [ ] SPECT Scans > medicaid > Date: Friday, June 20, 2008, 8:03 PM > We had both Insurance and Medicaid cover my sons spect scan. > > Rita > > > > **************Gas prices getting you down? Guest guest
I agree with Dr Duncan, that since you have already completed 100 dives, the readings will be more difficult. Esp if you haven't had the " Pre " scans. I do think that at this point, you might try to speak with Dr Harch. There is two other SPECT groups " Dr Uzsler in Santa who had read many HBOT scans and is the most published in this area. Also Dr Amen, who has read more SPECT scans than anyone. www.Amenclinics.com but he likes to take his own scans and his clinics are mostly on the west coast. If it were me, I would try Dr Harch, or Dr Uszler. Blessings On 1/9/2010 7:56 AM, handerson4380 wrote: > > Hi,Could anyone tell me where I can get a good SPECT scan for my 2 yr > old and aprox. Guest guest
Hi All, My son is 7 yo and a pt. of Dr. G's for 4 years now. Recently, we have seen some regression and are very concerned. Dr. G mentioned " at last resort " a SPECT scan. Last resort, b/c of the costs associated with it. I called Huntintion Radiology and they said more insurance companies are now paying for it. So to my question, if anyone has had a SPECT scan done, gotten the insurance to cover it, how did you do it? Thanks in advance. B.
Guest guest
Dr. Uszler was in network when I went and did it so the procedure was covered but not the anesthesia. I had to pay cash for that and then get reimbursed from insurance which they paid at 100% after trying to deny it. For anesthesia, my plan states that anesthesia is covered for kids who are disabled. I think we used the ICD9 code for seizures when we did it 2 years ago. Best to check your full plan document to see about anesthesia and see what it says. HTH.
