Guest guest
If you are feeling nauseous then maybe your map is too strong for you. Tell your audie and see what he/she says. I did experience what you are asking when I was in the early days of being hooked up. Having those hearing nerves wake up can be quite a shock! Sometimes my whole head would ring from all the noise or maybe I would get a mild headache. Other than that, I felt well and thrilled. If you are not feeling well then let your audie and/or surgeon know and ask what they think you should do. Guest guest
, It's ironic that you should mention having a map that is too strong. On the day of my activation, my audi said that my map was overstimulated but that this wasn't a problem and could always be adjusted. She also explained that this overstimulation was due to the fact that I was used to having extra power/volume by my super power hearing aids. I was told that the more I begin to listen and understand the difference in volume between a CI and hearing aid, the better I will be at getting a more appropriate map power wise. Guest guest
Sorry to hear about your problem Bill. Although in my case, I'm pretty much sure it's the Fridge. Hope you feel better. Thanks anyway! Dan > > For all those commenting about " noises " you should have my problem: TINNITUS: > NOISES OF ALL SORTS AND FASHIONS. This sometimes blocks out the assistance my > CI provides. Guest guest
It was totally weird the first time I heard the fridge. I never knew it made noise either. I left my job a few years ago, so I don't have to deal with that one anymore. Now I want to put a muffler on the washing machine and air c conditioner. Guest guest
You could also always take your CI off while doing those things, especially if you're all alone and there's no communication involved with another person. Guest guest
Does anyone have a 'hummer' child? Our son hums all the time - same tunes, constantly. Usually when his stomach is bothering him..
Guest guest
Speaking of allergies, I have a funny and encouraging story about my son. Understand, that he has only had 6 Neurofeedback treatments this month, and hadn't had any since August before that. So, he was standing in front of the fireplace and he said, " Mom. Dad. " We both looked up and said, " Yes? " My husband said, " are you having a seizure? " because he usually can tell us when an aura is coming on before a seizure. He said, " My eyes are watery. " (Never heard him say THAT before) So, my husband, trying to keep his voice even, said, " Why are your eyes watering? " And he said, " I'm having algeries. " Then, he self-corrected and said, " I'm having allergies. " Also, something we have never heard him say. Yay! So exciting! It's the little things, isn't it? It was a stim behavior and we don't see it anymore unless she is getting sick or allergies are acting up. Guest guest
Hi everyone... I could use some advice for a similar problem. My son is non verbal. He has developed a verbal stim. Unfortunately it is a loud growling yell! I had a visit from the owner of a rental property next door. Today. He was very nice as he informed me that two of his tenants were ready to move out because of my sons " yelling " . I am not sure what to do and I am honestly surprised my son has any voice left at all! This has been going on for months and shows no sign of letting up. Any input would be appreciated Thanks - Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Re: Humming We have a five year old who is always humming, singing, or repeating some type of show. When you talk to him, he can respond appropriately and his functional speech sounds pretty normal, but when you're not engaging him, he always has something going. I feel bad for him because either my husband and I or our other two sons are always saying- , turn off the show! Then, he'll look startled and say- oh, OK- then a minute later he's back to one of the three. My husband and I are always wondering if there is a medication that can stop this or is this just something that will get better as he gets better. I'm the one who has been posting about Valtrex die off and of course my nerves are shot because the constant humming/ singing is much worse during any type of die off or sickness and we are 58 days into Valtrex and not out of the woods yet. The other thing he is constantly doing is writing words in the air with his fingers- has anyone else had a child that did that? Glad we have this group for encouragement and Sloan- that was a great post to read and Marcia- looking forward to your book! Colleen
