Guest guest
Hi All, Well it was an interesting morning. The young chap who stole my car was back in court for sentencing this morning. At first it was thought he had not turned up but he was just late. The Sheriff sentenced him to 180 hours community service to be completed within one year, with a warning that if he so much as did not turn up when told to, do what he is told, then he will be brought back to court and sent to prison. It was only because he had acted totally out of character that he had been given this chance to make something of himself and the social worker would monitor his behaviour which had to be exemplary.. He also said that the compensation order had been made and he had 10 days to get the money to the court and the cheque to clear. Failing that he would be sent to prison. One thing in his favour was that he was extremely remorseful of what he had done. It seems that the court will clear the cheque and then at the end of the month send me a cheque for the full amount. I just hope he does send the cheque, I need the money to go to my new car. His going to prison would not help me do that. Well unless the cheque bounces, that should be the end of the case. I can tell you I am glad it is almost over. I can then put it behind me and let it go. In many ways I feel sorry for him. I found out that his previous convictions were for drug abuse but he has got himself out of that now. I just pray that he gets his act together in the next year as he becomes a father in 1 month's time. Love and hugs, Lilian
Guest guest
I am glad to hear that this is reaching a close for you Lillian, but it's sad to see such a young person (especially one about to become a dad) do something so damaging to someone else.
