Guest guest
That's so great to hear! We're having good success as well and moving through the program quickly. I'm hoping when we're done with Hooked on English, he'll be ready for Rosetta Stone. I agree regarding the Deluxe version. The lessons are short but effective, which is perfect for most of our kids. Take care and keep us posted. All the best, Robyn From: pineappleheadmama <robindriver@...> Subject: Hooked on English is working! Date: Thursday, March 10, 2011, 2:05 PM Â Hi all! I love this board! Thanks to Dr. G's ESL program suggestion, and Robyn Coggins post about 'Hooked on English " helping her son, we are experiancing tremendous gains with this program. I purhased the deluxe version, as it was only 30 bucks (originaly 200$) and it had 9 levels. (The smaller version is 9.99, but only has 1-3 and it goes by fast, best to get deluxe.) Ok, back to the progress! We use this in ABA and its a big hit. My son loves it, and says; " I want game " when requesting it. Yes, he requests it! New gains are: learned his shapes, can answer 'what's your name'(HUGE), and is now using " I see (object) " phrases, instead of just pointing and labeling object. He is answering questions faster, and listens more. The visuals are fun, and the repetions are working. ABA LOVES this, and the director is coming today to see how this is working. ABA stops video asks questions, uses the flashcards, and materials, and it really targets my sons preschool overall goals. It has helped to do it in session, as it makes it super consistent and we get more from him. For anyone who has a kid who LOVES to watch Pixar and well animated movies, and kid is not too flexible, I would suggest NOT playing it on a T.V that he normally watches movies on. My son's ABA suggested a small T.V in his room, that we only use for this, and Rosetta stone (when we get it). This was a great suggestion for my son, as it is a HUGE treat to have a T.V in his room, making him even more into it. Thanks for letting me share! Guest guest
I just checked it on amazon, is it the 'hooked on English, deluxe edition' Bcs in the description it says it is designed for non English speakers. I know it might still be useful for our kids with limited speech, but is everything in English? It's not like the instructions in another language, is it? Guest guest
Every bit of it is in English.
