I use nasal sprays, prescription for myself. I have chronic sinusitis. Keeping

the allergens down that I breathe in keeps the inflammation down in the my nasal

passageways, which allows me to breathe better through my nose and not through

my mouth which leads to more infections. Mucous from the nose might be a

little bit blood tinged at first, but that goes away. No side effects at all

for me. They've worked well for me.

[ ] Nasonex

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if Nasonex is relatively safe? My son's having an awful

time breathing at night and his regular doctor prescribed Nasonex and

Singulair, saying addressing his allergies will help him breathe better.

I know they are drugs and I don't want to use them, but my husband is

insisting we have to do something drastic. Is there any reason not use these?

I've read the possible side effects on Nasonex and they don't look good, but

just wondering if others have used it with good results.

Thank you,

Marie

My only concern with Nasonex is that if I use it everyday, I start to get

nose bleeds. When I do have allergy issues, I use it every other day. But

I have very few allergy symptoms since being on LDN.

Hi Stefano and others.

What exactly is nasonex? Do we have an equivalent in the UK? Is it a steroid nose drops/spray?

The side effects sounds pretty awful.

I use Flixonase. Have done for 10 years now. Is that supposed to have nasty side-effects?

I really notice going loopy and very stressed when on prednisolone.

Yeah Becky I used it in the UK for a few years, exactly the same

stuff. Anyway I need it like my hands but haven´t had any now for a week. Will

see how long that lasts but ideally because of costs i would like to use

something natural, cleaning my nose out with salt, water and bicarb for now and

may add some honey drops for the sake of it.

I’ve been using Nasonex now for many years and it’s helped me so

much. My sense of smell returns when I’m on it – have to admit though there

are times when I’ve missed using it and that’s when I notice my SOS goes again.

The only side affects I experienced was that on the first week I’d

sometimes get headaches but not severe ones. After that initial period there

aren’t any problems.

Just curious if any of you who like Nasonex have also tried Rhinocort at some

time in the past. I have been on Rhinocort for a while now, just started

irrigating with saline with a Pulmicort respule mixed in. I have days where my

right side is completely blocked from polyps and my nose drips all day long. If

things don't get better soon I might be considering surgery next year. I'm

wondering if Nasonex is a better choice than Rhinocort.

Thanks for any info you can share.

I also have been on Rhinocort.Rhinocort(2000-2003)->Flixonase(2004-2007)->Nasonex. Rhinocort hasn't help me so much but depends on how you feel, but I can attest that Nasonex was a better choice for me comparing to Rhinocort and Flixonase. I've had all sorts of symptoms from both of them, nausea, bad taste in my mouth, tachicardya and the polyps growth wasn't controlled and I had to have surgery once a year. You could try Nasonex and see if it is better suited for you. I like Nasonex. It worked better than Flonase for me. Never used Rhinocort. Melinda 29: 11 "For I know the plans I have for you", says the Lord. Nasonex is a corticosteroid. I stay away from steroids.Especially near

the brain. My Lyme doctor said that her patients that have used

steroids,do not get well, unlike the ones that have not used steroids

they do get well. My son used nasonex for years and it was the only

thing that gave him relief, but I wonder now if that is one big reason he

won't get over his Lyme. Tammy F.

My son uses Nasonex but I have found that if I use it for more than a few days

his nose has blood and dried bloody mucus in it.  It works, though.  I have used

Zicam nasal spray with no problems which is an OTC medication.

Petra, my daughter absolutely has behavioral problems from allergies. Very

sneaky indeed! My daughter has what I call Jekyll and Hyde Syndrome...she will

change her demeanor in a flash due to exposure to an allergen. The better your

child gets, the more obvious the triggers become!

Jen,

With my girl there are no obvious triggers. The only definite reaction I have

seen, is her reflux and we took away milk and it has reduced tremendously. She

never has any nasal congestion and is one of those kids who never gets sick. She

has not had a fever in 5yrs+. With that said though her immune system is out of

wack. Her NK cells are low and her Mature T cells are high. Weird. In the

process of making an appt. w/ Dr. and recruit local doc's to use the

protocol. The local doc's like to stay in their safety box Soooo, I can only

hope I am not wasting my breath!

Petra, your doing the right thing! My daughter didn't have any obvious triggers

until after we started antiviral meds. It seemed to clear up the very murky

waters of inflammation for her. So the better she got, the clearer it was to

see what was causing problems.

We also had to take things a bit further and do an immunotherapy treatment for

" allergies " because everything seemed to cause what seemed to be mini-cytokine

storms and resulted in ADHD and Sickness Behaviors. Not every child needs this,

mine did and it was a life-changing thing for us. Its complicated...

The Low NK cells are a classic sign of immune dysfunction in both Autism and

CFS. I look forward to hearing how things go for you and your daughter!

Tammy,

From my understanding these nasal steroids are different from regular

steroids since you use so little and it goes right to the infected area

rather than through the bloodstream. When I was pregnant I was told it is

okay to use this during pregnancy because it is so mild. Has been a life

saver for both me and . I used to get sinus infections every month when

I got my period and my immune system was down. Haven't had one for almost

twenty years.

Best,

Marcia

P.S We use Beconase one of the older ones
