Our DAN! wants us to do 250 mg 2 times per day. I am hearing that McCandless recommends 1000 mg total per day. I am also hearing that dosing should be at least 3 times per day. What has proven to be most successful? Thanks!
Guest guest
We are currently working with a DAN physician. I just got information to see Dr. Goldberg. We convinced our DAN to start Valtrex. Although she only wants to give 250 BID, not TID. My son weighs around 35 lbs. She wants him to be on BID for a month and then maybe increase it. So, my concern is that because he isn't on it TID that he could become resistant or is it better that he is getting it regardless of dosing. Can anyone help me with information regarding Valtrex dosing so, that I can give to our doctor? Also, I know that Dr. Goldberg is against supplementation. Which is one of the main things that is appealing about the vs. DAN protocol...I am wondering how he handles certain things like Vit. D. For example...when we first tests my son's levels they were 5! With the help of Vit. D. supplementation they are no close to 60. Should we stop Vit. D? I tried to click on the Do's and Don't of diet link, but nothing came up. So, what I understand is no dairy and limited gluten (carbs)- no whole grains, brown rice, etc. My son doesn't really eat fruits/veggies cause he has sensory issues. So, needless to say ever since we got the autism diagnosis I have a love/hate relationship with good cause I don't know what the heck to feed my kid. So, thankful for this group. The more I hear you and read the book I am thinking that we should try it.
Guest guest
I think Dr G used to start Valtrex 1/2 tablet 3 x a day for a couple of weeks then bump it up (I don't know if he still does that or if my memory is defective) to slow die off. But the half life is too short for bid. Maybe she would consider it that way? ________________________________ From: <rxwife2008@...> Sent: Thu, March 10, 2011 7:35:12 PM Subject: Valtrex dosing  We are currently working with a DAN physician. Guest guest
Ours was ¼ tab tid Then ½ tab tid Depends on age weight, so I wouldn’t guess. Actually it’s in his book. He also takes other things into consideration like what other meds they are on and other conditions.
