Good morning everyone

Lyndi sent this message to the group, back in October.

I am resending it again, because we are starting to

have far too many of the same problems again.

Have mercy on we moderators, and please follow the

rules listed below. If you have any questions, please

contact us.

I have cleared at least a dozen posts already today,

and only a few didn't need to be edited. I really

prefer not to send a message back to someone to edit

it themselves, because some people become upset, and

there are hard feelings, and so forth.

We are all in this together. I would prefer to do

research for the group, than to be editing.

Thank you very much,

Kaylene

This is taken from the File section - " All About

Posting. " These basics have been in place since the

very early days of the group. They work well and are

not up for debate. There are two other files in the

" All About Posting " file folder. Please make an

effort to read them as well.

Please read all of the following, then make a sincere

effort to apply the information to your posts. The

moderators are getting very weary of having to clean

up behind so many members. (Thank you to the folks

who already always do their own editing)!!

1. Replying to Posts: When replying to a post, always

delete all but the most pertinent part from the post

to which you are responding. Also delete anything that

Yahoo has added. Do the deleting before you

start typing your reply. That way you won't forget.

If the subject has changed, please update the subject

line as well.

OR (the more difficult way) first using the new

message button, cut and Paste from previous comments

only those relative bits that relate to what you have

to say. Please don't quote huge blocks of text from

a previous post, just quote the necessary parts.

2. Complementary List Promotion: Should you want to

promote what you think is a complementary list, be

courteous and ask the Moderators first. Do not send

in links to sites that may bring money your way.

Deliberate solicitation will result in being banned

from the group.

3. Religious Posts: A Delicate subject -- personal

faith is mainly a private issue, so please don't

assume that others share your religious views.

Whatever your faith may be; rest assured that we have

many people who do not share your beliefs. Please

consider them when you are writing to the group. If

you want to let someone know you are praying for them,

please do so privately. Saying a prayer for someone

else does not require a public announcement.

4. Keep Posts Relevant (Usually). This is a Chronic

Pain list. Give Support to those having painful times.

Occasional clean humour is acceptable. Don't spend

all your time surfing for this and then post.

Be Nice and Positive.

Also be real about what is happening for you.

Poppins is not on this list. People cannot help or

support what is kept hidden. But that doesn't mean we

encourage you to consistently complain in every post.

We all need to vent, but encouraging others counts

too.

5. The Better Way to Post: Use a subject line that

reflects your message each time. When referring to a

site, right click your mouse button, highlight the url

and select “Copy”. Next “Paste” into e-mail message.

Now go into the website you are sending information

on, select a small amount of descriptive text that

describes the web site. “Copy and Paste” that into

e-mail message.

This extract helps the moderators when they check

mail. Also, it is important when we try to compile

reference lists of useful URLs posted.

If your link is very long, it will break into pieces

when it is sent to the group. Please use wtinyurl.com

if you wish to paste a long link.

To use tinyurl.com –copy your long link, then open

tinyurl.com, paste your link into the space provided

and click the “make tinyurl” button. Then just copy

the short link it provides and paste it into your

email. Its easy to use and makes all long links

workable.

6. Netiquette Always Applies: Re-read your post at

least once or twice and please use a spell checker.

Please also keep in mind that people are bound to

disagree on various issues, so only engage in debate

that is productive, respectful, and of interest to the

list in general. If you have something that is off

topic but helpful, tell us; to help us

decide.

7. Content: Think about what you say before writing

it. Be aware that what you say may be somewhat

private, but is on a public list and not confidential.

Don't: Send attachments to mailing lists (we block

attachments as a virus precaution, so a post with just

an attachment will result in a blank post. Don't: use

all caps in your text. It makes it seem like you're

SHOUTING.

8. Abbreviations: Please try to avoid abbreviations.

We have many people on the group who are vision

impaired. Some of them use computer software to read

the posts aloud to them. Many of the text

message style of abbreviations are unreadable by the

software programs. Also please use the word “and”

rather than using the ampersand ( & ).
