Guest guest
Jen, , Thanks for responding! Perhaps it is die-0ff; but I just find we do a lot at night and it's killin' our sleepL Valtrex last dose at night was ok after a few weeks, then Dr. G put him on an antihistamine (we tried Claritin, then zyrtec, then allegra each for 2 to 3 days in a row. They all kept him up for at least 2 hours. Wonder WHY night time, but they made him an aggressive little monster too, so they are out anyway;() although the Claritin redi-tab wasn't as bad as the liquid. Now we started nizoral and the dosing is at night too and if he has die-off, it's just going to affect sleep, then no charcoal to bind with it. Wondering if Dr. G is ok w/ giving the kids charcoal for die-off (although I'd have to change my method of using local filter honey to mix it in to make " monster honey. " ). Anyone know? Between sicknesses, new meds and trying all the antihistimines, I think I'm sleep walking thru each day. He's also still waking in the middle of the night for 1-2 hours.this has to be yeast for him but I don't think the nizoral is doing anything for it yet! - or anyone else who knows. can you please tell me more about your experience w/ nizoral (we've always used diflucan or nystatin in the past with our DAN! docs) Thx, kathi From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Sent: Monday, March 21, 2011 9:53 AM Subject: Re: nizoral help? Guest guest
My kids did really well on diflucan as well as nizoral, but nizoral in my oldest son is the one that makes him seem ... happiest (not that he's particularly happy, but more so on that med). We always have a couple of really awesome months every time it's time to cycle back to nizoral, but I couldn't tell you exactly what it is. But that last time he started it after having been off of antifungals, he asked if he could stay on it forever. He could tell a big difference. Wish I could be more specific but we see less dramatic changes at his age now. The only huge improvements we see are when we find out a med or food was making him mean and irritable, and when we pull that out, it gets much better. He's at that stage where most adults can't tell he's on the spectrum. But he still has a harder time with his peers ... mainly he doesn't have the skills so much yet, not lacking in being interested. The social is the last to come, and he actually does have a couple of friends. If I had to choose only one med out of all the protocol, it would be nizoral.
