Following the diet, high protein, low allergy, low carb/sugar, no whole

grains, nuts or berries.  Then, don't let the baby have the Hep B vacc in

the

hospital - wait for the 2 week check.  You can even follow an alternate vaccine

schedule that most pediatricians would be ok with since it's not too far off

from the main schedule - as long as the child seems very healthy.  If

breastfeeding (preferable), then continue the diet during nursing, and

follow very low allergy food introduction, waiting later like 'they' used to

do.  If doing formula, I think there are recommendations for which kind but I

don't know which ones.

Depending on the family history of allergies and neuro-immune illnesses, you

should have the baby on the diet, especially no dairy, for the first 2

years.  Following that, the baby shouldn't have any food allergies, but of

course you'd watch for them.  They may not even have the typical ear infections

and frequent ear infections or sinus stuff that " typical " kids have.  Parents

with kids on the spectrum who have followed Dr G's pregancy guidelines for

additional kids have marveled at the difference in the health of these babies.

It would be a good practice for anyone with a history of allergies, autoimmune

illnesses, skin problems like eczema, etc.

Dr G has said he has never had a child born under his care where the mom

followed those recommendations develop 'autism'.  I do think you still have to

take each child case by case.  One friend who followed the recommendations and

has a beautifully healthy looking boy started noticing vaccine reactions, so I

think they're probably being very cautious with how they proceed.  So I don't

know that you're totally guaranteed not to have vaccine reactions, but most

people are able to proceed with them.

Low allergy diets during pregnancy for family histories of allergies used to be

a strong recommendation by the American Asthma and Allergy groups.  It's not

'off the mainstream', but we're always told to have the high nutrition whole

grains, nuts, dairy, etc.  But you can have a very healthy diet without those

by

having good meats, veggies, and minimizing sweets and carbs.  It's not healthy

if it sets off your immune system.  I've had to completely revise my belief in

what a healthy diet is for my family and myself.  (I still crave nuts and whole

grains and wheat germ and berries and tropical fruit, but it makes me very ill

and hurt all over.)
