Guest guest
I don't have experience with an older child... but the diet alone made such a difference in my own fibromayalgia (chronic pain), irritable bowel, anxiety, shortness of breath, mood, clarity in thinking, etc. ... It made me realize that the symptoms were the way my body reacted when it got something it couldn't tolerate (i.e. they were the effects of stimulating a disregulated immune system). I still struggle with finding all the triggers (some times soy or goats milk seems ok, other times not, etc.) but the difference overall was very night and day... and my guess is that an older child or an adult with autism would benefit just as much. I think they might have further to go to catch up (i.e. a child who is 14 and whose developmental age (in the areas that are affected) is, lets say, 4 has a lot of catching up to do... I have heard that their brain picks up where it left off, and it can't really skip developmental stages. Their brain may not be in the window of accelerated learning any more (0-5ish), but they still have the ability to develop and learn and grow. (i.e. it may be easier for a young child to learn a second language, but adults and older children learn multiple languages all the time) just my 2 cents. Guest guest
Dr G has just taken two as old or older than yours. Since technically he is a pediatrician, he tries to take the younger ones first. Dr in Texas does things similar to Dr G if that is a closer option for you. His contact info is: Dr. has a clinic in Port Arkansas, Texas. 361-749-1930. (His own child who is on the spectrum sees Dr. Goldberg) Dr also visits a clinic in New York several times a year. The director of the Northern New York Clinic is Kathy on and she is wonderful. The number of the New York clinic is 315-773-5405. Their website is http://www.nnyautismcenter.com All the clinics are great, pick the one that is closest to you.
