Diet (dessert) ideas

One thing that I struggle with is good dessert options. I am not sure exactly

what is ok and what isn't. If it is something made with unbleached wheat flour

does that make it not ok?

Here are desserts I often give (our son usually gets dessert 1x per day ...

after dinner)

Rice Krispy bars (with earth balance margarin)

Merengue cookies

Pilsbury sugar cookies (premade tube of dough... just slice and bake)

Lorna Doone shortbread cookies (these have unbleached wheat flour... does that

make them a bad option?)

I was going to make jello cubes with white grape juice and unflavored knox

geletin... does anyone know if geletin is ok

does anyone have a recipe for cookies using rice and potato starch/flour?... or

is it a bad idea to make your own from scratch because it will not be as

" processed " ?

Does anyone know a good processed cookie that is ok for diet? Or should we

stay away from all wheat except for what is in generic white bread.

Does anyone know what actually makes something more processed? I know Dr. G

didn't approve Gorilla Munch cereal even though it was basically just corn

meal... saying that it wasn't as processed as corn flakes. Does anyone know if

corn chips (fritos/tostitos) are also out because they are not as processed. I

suppose these are questions I should ask Dr. G

I would love to hear people's favorite foods/recipes that are ok on NIDs to get

more ideas.
