Guest guest
Kathi, It sounds like a fungal kill off to me. I hate to tell you this, but my sons kill off would last up to a month and all we could do was be extra patient, reduce any stress or expectations on him and just ride it out. It is especially important however to keep his diet extra clean as the last thing you want to mix in there is a food intolerance. We have had one or two kill offs that were so bad I didn't even send my son to school for a couple of weeks, as no one needed to see him acting so out of character, spitting, smashing his head on the lockers, throwing himself on the ground and just acting so very crazy. Just when I thought I was at my wits end, I would notice that he was calmer and not as out of control and before we knew it, he was more then just fine, but better then he had ever been. All this unusual behaviour came as a shock to me as I never thought yeast was an issue for my son. He had never really consumed much sugar, or fruit, and his diet was always so natural and healthy. After seeing such a dramatic reaction from a usually very passive easy going boy, I was so glad to get all those toxins out of his system. His behaviour, stims and scripting were all way better after such a horrible kill off. Hang on, dig in and ride it out. It was truly the hardest part of the protocol for us, but worth it, believe it or not, in the end! Lori _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Kathi Sent: March-25-11 10:10 AM Subject: die-off vs. intolerance I had sent another post that I didn't see show up. I'm sorry if this is a repeat and I missed it. We are on day 9 of nizoral (75 mg) and since upping it from 50, my son's behavior is just crazy, whiney, angry, frustrated, hitting his head at times and major meltdowns; in between he's just ok, otherwise, he's basically all over the place. I cannot tell if this is die-off or if he's not tolerating it. He's kinda crazy and he's all over me every second, he wants to eat constantly (especially fruit, so this is what makes me think it's die-off). He had nizoral only once before and he wasn't even 3 (5 now) and I believe we stopped it early thinking it didn't tolerate it. I called the office, they said die-off can last up to 21 days. Can anyone please share if this is die-off? Right now he's screaming down stairs, so here I go to put him on the sofa to keep him safe. Thx kathi
Guest guest
Lori, Our appt isn't until June, but I have been reading accounts like yours for a year now. I am trying to prepare myself. How long have you been on the protocol and can you tell me how your child is doing? Guest guest
Hey Kathi, Butting in, but I am sort of thinking both. Liam doesn't tolerate stuff that affects the brain too much right? I really think antifungals really irritate the brain when going through die off. How about trying some ibuprofen? I really wonder if Liam just gets massive headaches. You have said that before right? I did an anticandida diet and had the WORST headache. Ended up going into a migraine. Dr. Krigsman told me that Dr. Frye treats kids with headaches in Texas. Says autistic kids generally have high intracrqnial pressure and get pressure headaches and migraines. The symptoms he described sound a lot like Liam. Hitting his head, screaming, emotional, etc. Man, poor kid and poor mom! What works the most for my migraines is head-on. You know, the stick that you rub on your forehead. Walmart has it. That way it won't irritate his gut. Just an idea. I get migraines a lot, but that is all I ever use. Just throwing out an idea. But Liam has been struggling for awhile right? Is this a new irritation or just continuing? > > Kathi, > > > > It sounds like a fungal kill off to me. Guest guest
Activated Charcoal has helped us with die off... make sure to seperate activated charcoal by 2 hours from any medications as it will absorb everything. Dr. G was ok with it (not super gung ho on the idea but said it was ok ... but don't over do it... it can be very constipating) Make sure to take with food... we usually used half a capsule and mixed it in juice (looks ugly but tastes ok)
