Guest guest
What's his reasoning? Puberty and the hormonal changes that come with it sometimes comes with some really good gains as well, at least it can for boys. Is she high enough functioning to understand what's happening?  Unless you have reason to think it'd be traumatic for her, I don't really understand why he'd want to stop it? Is the med depoprovera or something like that? They can have really harsh side effects.  I really have no understanding of the whole hormonal part and what he wants to achieve... I'd want to look into what the hormones are that are being used, and compare it to the research done on XMRV to make sure that there isn't a negative associated with them... Guest guest
My daughter yes will probably freak out. My concern is her ability to handle it appropriately. She is considered higher functing BUT she is delayed in her maturity. She has one more year in public school and she will be 12 in Sept. Thanks for your input. Guest guest
Hi, I guess I would echo the same questions in this post. My ASD daughter who is 13 years old has had very bad cycles of bleeding 3 weeks out of 4 for months on end, but we are working with our DAN to help her immune system and reduce toxins and the endocrine system is affected by them. We have also added some supplements to help. The local pediatrician had wanted to put her on a birth control pill to " stablize " her cycle, but my DAN didn't agree it was a good idea, and I am glad. The hormones can really mess with the gut flora. I chose to help my daughter with her first periods by talking with her and writing a social story, and preparing her. Then when her cycle became abnormal, I continually reassured her it would be ok.... Good luck Sara > > What's his reasoning? Puberty and the hormonal changes that come with it > sometimes comes with some really good gains as well, at least it can for boys. > Is she high enough functioning to understand what's happening?  Unless you have > reason to think it'd be traumatic for her, I don't really understand why he'd > want to stop it? Is the med depoprovera or something like that? They can have > really harsh side effects.  I really have no understanding of the whole hormonal > part and what he wants to achieve... I'd want to look into what the hormones > are that are being used, and compare it to the research done on XMRV to make > sure that there isn't a negative associated with them... > HTH > > > > > > ________________________________ > From: Gage Vanlandingham <gager292@...> > groups < > > Sent: Sat, March 26, 2011 8:29:45 PM > Subject: Please Help- Girls 1st PD > >  > My Girl is close to her 1st PD and her MD has suggested giving her a med to make > it where she does not have a menstrual cycle. Guest guest
Hey Sara, I have problems w/abnormal cycles too. The thing that reduces the chronic extended flow were iron supplements and doxycycline. Antifungals may have played a part in it too - they do have some positive endocrine effects too. ________________________________ From: jandjmother <psalm1@...> Sent: Sun, March 27, 2011 12:51:46 PM Subject: Re: Please Help- Girls 1st PD  Hi, I guess I would echo the same questions in this post. Guest guest
, That is interesting. My daughter has iron deficiency anemia and is taking iron. She also is on antifungals. The doxyclcline we have not tried. Typically antibiotics wreak havoc w/yeast issues which she has. She is also taking ceyenne and citris bioflavioids, which I think have helped dry out her cycles somewhat as well, although she still bleeds long and it is still irregular, it is not as heavy now. I think the problem has a lot to do with toxins (metals and other stuff) messing up the endocrine system as well. We are in the process of chelating her now and some of the metals are disturbingly high. Guest guest
Sara, has your daughter been tested for endometrosis? Uterine fibroids? PCOS? -Jen > > > > What's his reasoning? Puberty and the hormonal changes that come with it > > sometimes comes with some really good gains as well, at least it can for boys. > > Is she high enough functioning to understand what's happening?  Unless you have > > reason to think it'd be traumatic for her, I don't really understand why he'd > > want to stop it? Is the med depoprovera or something like that? They can have > > really harsh side effects.  I really have no understanding of the whole hormonal > > part and what he wants to achieve... I'd want to look into what the hormones > > are that are being used, and compare it to the research done on XMRV to make > > sure that there isn't a negative associated with them... > > HTH > > > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > From: Gage Vanlandingham <gager292@> > > groups < > > > Sent: Sat, March 26, 2011 8:29:45 PM > > Subject: Please Help- Girls 1st PD > > > >  > > My Girl is close to her 1st PD and her MD has suggested giving her a med to make > > it where she does not have a menstrual cycle. Guest guest
Jen, We haven't had any tests around this issue to date. But I am going to Boston soon for some gi work (scopes) and she will have a pelvic ultrasound then. What do you know about these other tests? How are they done? Is it blood work? What is PCOS? Thank you for the information, Sara > > > > > > What's his reasoning? Puberty and the hormonal changes that come with it > > > sometimes comes with some really good gains as well, at least it can for boys. > > > Is she high enough functioning to understand what's happening?  Unless you have > > > reason to think it'd be traumatic for her, I don't really understand why he'd > > > want to stop it? Is the med depoprovera or something like that? They can have > > > really harsh side effects.  I really have no understanding of the whole hormonal > > > part and what he wants to achieve... I'd want to look into what the hormones > > > are that are being used, and compare it to the research done on XMRV to make > > > sure that there isn't a negative associated with them... > > > HTH > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > > From: Gage Vanlandingham <gager292@> > > > groups < > > > > Sent: Sat, March 26, 2011 8:29:45 PM > > > Subject: Please Help- Girls 1st PD > > > > > >  > > > My Girl is close to her 1st PD and her MD has suggested giving her a med to make > > > it where she does not have a menstrual cycle. Guest guest
Sara, PCOS is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome...these kind of reproductive issues are common in women with auto-immune issues. Autistic individuals also have immune system dysfunction so I wonder how many girls with autism have these condtions too! PCOS is usually detected via ultrasound. I hope all of this goes well for you and your daughter and you figure out whats going on! -Jen > > > > > > > > What's his reasoning? Puberty and the hormonal changes that come with it > > > > sometimes comes with some really good gains as well, at least it can for boys. > > > > Is she high enough functioning to understand what's happening?  Unless you have > > > > reason to think it'd be traumatic for her, I don't really understand why he'd > > > > want to stop it? Is the med depoprovera or something like that? They can have > > > > really harsh side effects.  I really have no understanding of the whole hormonal > > > > part and what he wants to achieve... I'd want to look into what the hormones > > > > are that are being used, and compare it to the research done on XMRV to make > > > > sure that there isn't a negative associated with them... > > > > HTH > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > > > From: Gage Vanlandingham <gager292@> > > > > groups < > > > > > Sent: Sat, March 26, 2011 8:29:45 PM > > > > Subject: Please Help- Girls 1st PD > > > > > > > >  > > > > My Girl is close to her 1st PD and her MD has suggested giving her a med to make > > > > it where she does not have a menstrual cycle. Guest guest
Jen, Yes, I think that is what the doctor will be looking for in the ultrasound, thank you! How are the other two issues tested that you mentioned, uterine fibroids and endemetriosis? Thank you for the info, Sara > > > > > > > > > > What's his reasoning? Puberty and the hormonal changes that come with it > > > > > sometimes comes with some really good gains as well, at least it can for boys. > > > > > Is she high enough functioning to understand what's happening?  Unless you have > > > > > reason to think it'd be traumatic for her, I don't really understand why he'd > > > > > want to stop it? Is the med depoprovera or something like that? They can have > > > > > really harsh side effects.  I really have no understanding of the whole hormonal > > > > > part and what he wants to achieve... I'd want to look into what the hormones > > > > > are that are being used, and compare it to the research done on XMRV to make > > > > > sure that there isn't a negative associated with them... > > > > > HTH > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > > > > From: Gage Vanlandingham <gager292@> > > > > > groups < > > > > > > Sent: Sat, March 26, 2011 8:29:45 PM > > > > > Subject: Please Help- Girls 1st PD > > > > > > > > > >  > > > > > My Girl is close to her 1st PD and her MD has suggested giving her a med to make > > > > > it where she does not have a menstrual cycle.
