Top of mouth inflamed after 3 weeks of valtrex

The roof of my son's mouth is extremely inflamed. The 'veins' on the roof

are white and sore. It isn't yeast or thrush. Any suggestions? A sore

appeared on the inside of his lip after a few days of valtrex.
