Im new to this site and have only posted a couple of times, but I have been

reading loads of the posts you have added and all of them seem to say amazing

things about Dr G, he sounds brilliant.

I dont think we have anyone like this in the UK, but if anyone could point me in

the right direction Id be very greatful, I think my son would really benefit

from seeing someone like Dr G, but if it means we'd have to travel to see the Dr

Id be more than happy, it seems like everyone wants to get to see him!

What would we need to do?

Thanks

Sophie

Hi Sophie

We live in London and we visited Dr G a while back and when you meet him

you can not fail to be impressed with his passion and commitment to his work

or to have immense respect for someone who manages what must amount to a

phenomenal work and caseload and ever growing ... I don't know how on earth

he does it!

If you choose to make the trip you need to consider your expectations long

term because once you are back in the UK the diet part may not be difficult

but getting support from the medical establishment here regarding the drug

regime will be problematic if you choose to pursue Dr G's recommendations.

When we returned we approached a respected Harley St pediatrician and got

a very firm NO and so we felt that without some local accessible medical

support we would be uncomfortable giving prescription medication assuming we

would have been able to get a supply! There are some wonderful and

knowledgeable individuals on this site who are supportive and helpful and we

had

offers to help support us if we wanted to persist despite the difficulties

but for us the bottom line was that we wanted local medical support regarding

the meds.

Is anyone else here aware of other UK parents being more successful in

implementing the protocol here and if so how have they managed it because prior

to the trip I think this would be valuable to know this to help support

longer term plans?

Also it is great that Dr will be in London for the Autism

Conference but he will largely be speaking to a converted audience perhaps

Sophie

it would be worthwhile attending the conference because there are sometimes

opportunities to meet the speakers even for a brief chat certainly the

previous Bournemouth Conference was like that.

My perspective on Breakspear is that the individual practioners have their

own take on managing their clients needs and formed no part in any

discussion when some of the Breakspear practitioners gave presentations at

the previous event but maybe the world has moved on since then ... is anyone

aware of the Breakspear now supporting !

Hi I think we may have spoken before.

I know there are a small number of us here in the UK who have either

visited with or are in the process of visiting Dr G but there seems to be little

clarity about how can operate remotely specifically the medical aspect

of the protocol which is fairly key to the approach! I think for other UK

parents coming into this it is important to have information to allow

informed choices because one thing you will learn as you add years to your

experience on this trail is that you can add considerable expense with at times

no added value.

When you say you have done both I am assuming you have tried the Breakspear

approach and you have implemented the approach. Did you implement the

with medical support from Breakspear or did you find a mechanism to

support appropriately the medical aspect of monitoring ?

This it seems to me is a crucial question to be answered for anyone

considering from this side of the Atlantic because the Rx side of the

approach can't based on our experience be managed medically appropriately

remotely!

It would be helpful for other UK based parents to share their experience if

they have managed to do so.
