Guest guest
I ordered Dr. G's book and I am sure that will provide me with lots of great information. I am eagerly awaiting my book. I am curious what everyone recommends doing first when following the protocol? I am a bit anxious to get started because I feel like the clock is ticking. I am also concerned about PANDAS but I am assuming following a protocol would help with PANDAS? Here is my take on how to start, am I on the right track? Diet: My understanding with (so far) is that whole wheat, casein, sugar and dyes should be eliminated? Eating bread is fine as long as it isn't whole wheat? Limiting carbs is important because of the sugar? Multivitamins Take a good multivitamin in addition to diet. Is there a multivitamin that is recommend on the protocol? Probiotic Eliminate yeast. Is there a probiotic that is recommend on the protocol? SSRIs SSRI's are the last to be added because you want your body free of bad yeast and healthy. Are there SSRI's that are not recommend for the protocol? Which ones are recommended? I realize I have simplified the protocol but am I on the right track? I am sure once I receive Dr. G's book it will all make more sense but I am anxious to start. Currently we are: eliminating dyes limiting casein- seems to tolerate cheese in small amounts but struggles with milk so we avoid it. does eat organic ice cream, seems ok with it. eating gluten but does not seem bothered by it (we did do gf/cf for 2years and now have reintroduced) buy as much organic as possible eating way more carbs then I would like-this is a tough one that I know we need to work on Kirkman multivitamin for kids Carnatine Lamictal 200mg- Trazdone-for sleep Melatonin-for Sleep Planning on starting a probiotic & fish oil-which ones are safe??? Thanks, Hildy
Guest guest
If you are going to start then don't add anything else, like the oils, on the contrary you are supossed to use just a regular multivitamin not a super dosage of vitamins, the dairy has to go, etc, visit the website for more info. I live in Ontario Canada and tried to find someone who could support me with this protocol but couldn't find anyone, so I had to go back to supplements and biomedical, because my doctor won't prescribe the anti anxiety as Dr. G recomends. Anyway maybe soon I'll find a doctor who can help me, as it is imposible for me to travel to Texas. Guest guest
Sasha, There is a clinic in upstate NY. Depending where you are in Ontario, that isn't too difficult of a drive.certainly easier then Texas! The SSRIs that Dr. G prescribes is NOT for anxiety. It is for more blood flow into the temporal lobes of the brain and it also acts in a neuro protective manner. Have you read the book? Read it and highlight the aspects that apply to your child. Then purchase an extra copy for any health care support you are looking to use. I also live in Ontario and may have some advice for getting support here in Ontario. Please email me off list so we can discuss it further. Don't give up on the approach if that is what your gut tells you will work for your child. It makes sense. Looking forward to hearing from you. Guest guest
Sasha, we are also in Ontario and have been to 2 GP's, an immunologist, and several paeds, and not one will even entertain the idea of helping us with Dr. G's protocol in any way! Have you considered going to New York? Dr. is great and only a 5-hour drive from Toronto. Best Wishes. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of S M Sent: March 19, 2011 11:25 PM Subject: Re: What is first w/ protocol?
