Guest guest
My son started Nizoral 5 night ago. I don't feel like it's doing much. He takes it at night and I think it's affecting sleep. Has anyone done it during the day or do all the protocols do it at night? We did diflucan other times and always did it during the day. Just wondering why nighttime and if the 'affecting the sleep' will subside. I also am not sure it's doing much. Hmmm.any thoughts? Guest guest
Hey Kathi, Antifungals just work better at night for some reason - maybe some of the hormonal stuff going on during sleep. First, I suspect you're having mild die-off keeping him awake - can you give dye-free benedryl for a few nights? Also, nizoral has several hormonal impacts, so when those start changing, sleep is one of those things that can take a bit to regulate again. It typically doesn't last long. Another is potty accidents for the first couple of weeks (pretty rare I think), although that happens more from infection or SSRI changes. If you really think that's what's keeping him awake, you could ask to give it earlier, but it may be best to try to move back to bedtime after enough time to settle on it. I forget - it's also best to take it with something ... a fatty food/snack? Can't remember. Hope it gets better for you. Nizoral is my favorite antifungal for my boys. My son asked if he could be on it forever because it makes it so much easier to be good, he said.
