Nystatin as an antifungal

Hello All,

I'd appreciate thoughts and experiences about the use of nystatin as opposed to

other oral antifungals that Dr. G might usually prescribe. We have not seen

Dr. G yet and are being treated by a thoughtful DAN doctor. My son is 2.8 with

PDD NOS and prominent gut issues. OATs test was not highly suggestive for years

(only hippurate was elevated) but my son has intermittent very loose stool that

gets worse when he is sick. He also has frequent " fog " . My DAN doc would like

to start with oral nystatin as a treatment for possible GI yeast. In his book

Dr. G dos not mention Nystatin and only mentions Nizoral (ketaconazole) and

Diflucan (among others). We take a number of supplements and do the GFCF diet.

IgG food testing showed only reactions to dairy, NOTHING else.

I am wondering people's experience with Nystatin and if anyone has a sense if

Dr. G would approve of Nystatin.

I appreciate any thoughts/advice you have.

Thanks,

Sylvia
