Guest guest
Gus had reflux also--probably a minimal to moderate case. No meds needed, just had to keep him upright after eating for a while. Seemed to go away by 6-7 mos or so. Guest guest
I have a well baby check today for my 9 month who STILL spits up like crazy. He has both tort and plagio and we will probably add reflux to the mix. Our therapists think there might be a connection between the tort and reflux, but not the plagio. I was afraid to go back in to picture and see it worse, but I guess my memory is foggy because it is DEFINATELY better then it was a few months ago. At least I think so... I posted pictures under "Our Plagio Kids" Album Connor... there are two of him around 2 months, and two of him around 5 months... Guest guest
Hi, my son has reflux too. When you say " dealing with " , do you mean when you are actively treating yeast / bacteria or when the yeast / bacteria gets bad (like if you have to go off of meds for dx tests)? jjcox22 <jjcox22@...> wrote: My daughter's reflux gets much worse whenever we are dealing with bacteria, yeast, etc. Do others find this too? Guest guest
Sammy had some issues with reflux. Reflux is at its peak, I learned, when the baby is at four months so when Sammy turned four months we noticed him having issues. He quit taking bottles and when he did he drank less each time. He would fight like it was uncomfortable. Alot of babies have issues sleeping but Sammy never did. He was put on medicine for two months and then he is off it now since six months. It helped alot. Welcome to our group. What is your name please? Like other people wrote this diet plus supplements will cure serious reflux. This program isn't just a candida cure, it is a healing program, which improves anyone's health no matter the cause (except birth defects of course). You can't just treat the stomach problem by itself without changing your diet, because the diet was the major culprit, chiefly because of today's toxic foods, high sugars, high-carb diets, lack of nutrients, improperly prepared foods, etc., etc. To find out more about this read my article " Foods that Damage, Foods that Heal " which is in our Group's Files (left menu) which is in a File all by itself, after all of the Folders. Just use your browsers Edit Find on This Page function with the words " Foods that Damage " and you will find it. Doctor's prescribe the purple pill because they mistakenly believe that acid reflux is caused by high stomach acid, which is totally untrue. It is caused by low stomach acid, but the symptoms are exactly the same as high stomach acid. The purple pill is designed to cut down acid production (it is called a proton pump inhibitor which cuts down acid production) which is treating the opposite to what caused the problem, and it will make you dependent upon them. Your stomach makes 1 molecule of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) for every molecule it makes of hydrochloric acid (HCl. When your stomach isn't producing enough HCl it is also not making enough baking soda. Baking soda is so important because it is what protects the lining of the stomach from being damaged by the HCl. There are many things you can do naturally to cure your acid reflux, but most important is the diet and supplements, along with improving your digestion by taking HCl tablets and 2 tbl. of good sauerkraut with every meal. Like others suggested read about digestion in our Files, but one of the best sources is my article " How to Successfully Overcome Candida " which is in the 2nd Folder in our Files because it explains all about foods, supplements, and also there's a section on " How to Improve Digestion " . Guest guest
My new grand daughter 6 months old has reflux and her doctor has prescribed anti-acid with each meal to counter the acidity in her throat. But I don't think stomach acidity is the problem, rather digestive problems which anti-acids contribute to. What should be done in this situation. She is having significant digestive problems, gas, discomfort, crying , etc. Also, my daughter is not taking probiotics, says her advisors say that supplements and such are not needed by healthy people with a healthy diet? Guest guest
Reflux was a sign of intolerance to food/formula? Baby still on formula or breast feed? Problem with formula or what mom is eating. I pumped for 9 months not knowing my son had a ton of food allergies. When I tried to switch to formula, it explained everything. Gerber rice cereal had soy, and you mix a little banana or apple sauce in rice cereal and babies first fruits, all allergic to it. Also his eczema, itching, wheezing, issues with what I ate. Also products using in while bathing, everything. Guest guest
sounds so much like my oldest son - really look to diet (mom's if breastfeeding; formula if formula fed). My son's reflux, gas, projectile vomiting, " colic " , sleeplessness/restlessness, etc. cleared up dramatically once I eliminated certain foods. Milk/casein, gluten, egg, soy, corn, seem to be among the top culprits.... hth! > > My new grand daughter 6 months old has reflux and her doctor has prescribed anti-acid with each meal to counter the acidity in her throat. Guest guest
To bad its so hard to have a healthy diet the way they have killed the food. My daughter had reflux she was happy kid but would spit up a lot all the time with no warning especially after eating. Docs gave her meds but they gave her an awful diaper rash and she was a happy little plucky baby before so we didn't give them she grew out of it around 9 months old (which is pretty standard). My son on the other hand had nasty colic, crying, refulx, the whole shebang. What worked for him was a wonderful all herbal bicorbonate free product called colic ease. I had to order itand when I ran out i made a tea from the ingredients which also helped though not quite as good as the product. If interested you can get it at http://www.colicease.com/ Tressie > > My new grand daughter 6 months old has reflux and her doctor has prescribed anti-acid with each meal to counter the acidity in her throat. Guest guest
with my duaghter as well as reflux she developed an intolerence to milk based and soy based formulas and also the milk i was injesting as i was also breast feeding. after switching to hypoalergenic formula and removeing all milk products from my diet her gas and digestion got alot better. as well as other gas forming foods like broccoli and onions. then on the recomendation from Drs i started feeding her solids at about 6.5 months (she was a preemie). when her digestive system wasnt ready for it and she became very constipated. and it added to her reflux. her system wasnt ready for it untill 8-9 months old. but i kept feeding it to her dispite the fact it was doing nothing but making her constipated and keeping her from eating enough. to do it again i would do it differently. I would add in a digestive enzyme much sooner and a probiotic if there is digestive issues. > > > > My new grand daughter 6 months old has reflux and her doctor has prescribed anti-acid with each meal to counter the acidity in her throat. Guest guest
I have a question about Klaire Labs probiotic formula for infants http://www.protherainc.com/prod/proddetail.asp?id=K-TIF We're expecting a second baby in October and given what we have with our 3.5 yr old (enzymes, CF diet, lipase, etc etc) - I wonder if it might be a good idea to start the baby on probiotics right away? I am currently taking probiotics as part of my prenatal diet. On the web it states: " Ther-Biotic® Infant Formula is designed to support a normal infant microflora that can be easily disrupted by cesarean section delivery... " among other things. She will be a scheduled c-section (unfortunately, there is no choice here). Any experience/ thoughts/ concerns? Thank you Lena > > I would add in a digestive enzyme much sooner and a probiotic if there is digestive issues.
Guest guest
As a long time breastfeeding mom, I would say that reflux is most likely due to a casein intolerance. Is the baby vaccinated? If so, the reflux (and casein intolerance) is likely an early indicator of *toxicity*. The propensity to accumulate mercury - and have toxicity issues like this - runs in families. So, if someone in your family has clear toxicity issues, this baby is more at risk than otherwise. A baby does NOT have food allergies/intolerances/etc as a normal part of being a baby. That indicates a problem, most likely toxicity. It would likely be helpful to contact La Leche League. > > My new grand daughter 6 months old has reflux and her doctor has prescribed anti-acid with each meal to counter the acidity in her throat. Guest guest
bernie, i dont knwo what to say on this one.. my son was on reflux meds at 3 months old, by 2 was diagnosed autistic and by 5 found out he had severe esophagitus.. my great nephew was on reflux meds as a baby, by 2 pddnos, my great neice was on reflux meds as a baby and although she is nt, she does have some agressions . the kicker is she is either constipated, vomiting, or has diarehha.. some parents ive met on these boards wonder if the reflux meds were an early indicator to future gi problems or the cause of future gi problems... > > > > My new grand daughter 6 months old has reflux and her doctor has prescribed anti-acid with each meal to counter the acidity in her throat. Guest guest
Wow, this problem is becoming amazingly prevalent in small children! My sister's grandchild was also " born " with acid reflux and was put on meds for it, initially. Since we don't usually stick with what MDs say, we look elsewhere. This child seemed to be allergic to his mom's breast milk - at least he didn't thrive on it, and they had a hard time getting an agreeable formula. He is non-vaccinated, but is behind on physical developments such as sitting, crawling. What helped was chiropractic/kinesiology as well as craniosacral therapy. So often, babies are mis-aligned from the birthing process. Sometimes it takes just a small adjustment to straighten things out. I also think food allergies and digestive problems are part of the picture. My son had acid reflux since he was little, and he has Crohn's disease. Diet is important, of course. Babies should have only breast or bottle for at least 6-9 months. That cuts out allergic reactions to some degree. And, I agree with you about the probiotics. Babies get their first dose of probiotics during delivery from their mom. If hers is inadequate, theirs will be inadequate also. I believe that there is stuff going on in the environment that is adding to this problem... just my suspicion.... (chemtrails).... believe in them - or not. I've heard from several doctors about rapid changes in barometric pressure affecting health issues. It is proven that barometric pressure changes make " crazy " or emotional people worse. I think I read it affects blood pressure also. Anyone having unusual weather lately? It's hard to get people on board with reason ... or off-board from conventional medicine -- till they believe it themselves. There are dozens of articles on acid reflux meds and their negative effects. -- In , BERNARD WINDHAM <berniew1@...> wrote: > > My new grand daughter 6 months old has reflux and her doctor has prescribed anti-acid with each meal to counter the acidity in her throat. Guest guest
New Research: Colic in Babies May Be Caused by Bacteria Researchers at The University of Texas say an organism discovered during their study may unlock the key to colic, inconsolable crying in an otherwise healthy baby. The bacterium Klebsiella was found in the intestines of babies with colic. A probiotic, a dietary supplement composed of beneficial bacteria, may help to control the inflammation. Guest guest
refulx and GERD can be results of the HepB shot as well. They call it " dyspepsia " on the package insert and is a well recognized " side effect " . I learned this too late and of course the docs never mentioned that my baby might just spend the next 10 months crying constantly and throwing up, and nursing fussily in a desperate attempt to keep it all diluted and/or flowing in the right direction.
