Tymothy, I had just completed my second Masters when I found out I would not be able to work. I had worked so hard for this degree because I was older and I thought it would be in a field I could function with my back problem. Fortunately, this time I had no student loans. You need to write the company that subsidized your loans and ask what kind of program do they have for someone who becomes disabled. I have had my loans discounted before but I do not know if they still do that. Welcome, and I hope you find the decision that allows you to take care of yourself. Guest guest
I had a student loan erased and it was fiarly straightforward, but you will never get another one unless you go back and pay off the loan they erased. My doctor had to write a letter to the loan company and I had to fill out a paper but it was pretty easy.
