Cheryl,

I bought a laz-boy recliner years ago with heat and massage in

it. It was one of those over sized recliners and when I cannot sleep,

I go to it and the dogs have room to sit on the sides and we all have

our massages and heat.

I would encourage anyone that is going to buy a chair or bed to

go when you are hurting and sit or lie in them. I laid on so many beds

before we bought ours, they were laughing at me.

I agree laying way back in the recliner with the pressure points

are not being squashed, it worth it.

Cheryl,

Thanks for the link to the site with the zero gravity recliner! You must have

read my mind.

I was just about to post asking if anyone could offer any tips on furniture

that's actually comfortable for people with chronic pain.

Back when I was still trying to work, I had the hardest time trying to get my

employer (city government) to give me the proper equipment so I could actually

stay working. Ergonomic furniture didn't really work for me, although I'm sure

it's great for healthy people.

I had a sit-stand desk that was too heavy for me to switch its positions and I

tried every chair imaginable.

At home, I'm lucky enough to be able to afford a good mattress and I have a La-Z

Boy recliner that I can tolerate for a while. It's one of the Todd Oldham ones

with a back that arches differently than the regular ones. It's absolutely

huge, though--especially when open--and my cat has torn the arms to shreds

despite my best efforts.

I'm hoping to build a small house this year designed to suit my needs and I've

been on the prowl for furniture that I might find comfortable. The zero gravity

chair looks like it would be perfect (and there's really nothing there for Teddy

to scratch).

I'm thrilled to see it would look good, too, and that it comes in a million

colors. Now if I could find kitchen cabinets that didn't require bending to get

into. I always start out with everything

organized in the lower cabinets, but then I tend to bend just enough to toss

things back in.

You also said you found a rolling lap top cart? Would you mind saying where you

found one? I've searched high and low, but haven't found any that I could use

sitting in a chair--never mind lying in one.

Thanks again!

Kate

Hi Kate -

I also got my laptop cart that works with my zero-gravity chair (and

is even almost the same color wood!) at the Relax the Back store,

although I probably paid way too much for it. But it is very solid

and has lasted years through daily adjustments with no sign of

wearing out, so maybe it is worth paying the extra for the better

quality.

A friend of mine got one for a fraction of the price at an office

store, I believe, but it's much flimsier and I don't know if it would

fit over the zero-gravity chair or not. I'll try to ask her where

she found it though, and post when I hear back from her.

Kate,

Relax the Back has a catalog, I asked for one when they didn't

have a certain style of an item. I would get Cheryl to give you the

company and description because the catalog carries different

manufacturers and it might be cheaper to buy it somewhere else of

directly from the company.

Just a thought.

-Kate. I gave up on having mu cooking pans in the lower cabinet and

put hooks on the wall by my cupboards. Now I don`t have to worry

about going down in the cupboard for a kettle. It`s a good set, so it

doesn`t look that bad. They hang them in resturants, why not at

home.
