Jen,

Can you please share the pancake recipe?

Did your son have a problem with rice krispies? Its possible its not the rice

making him react but the malt barley thats in it (source of gluten)

My daughter doesn't tolerate any gluten and no goats products either, she is

just too sensitive. But we are okay with Rice and Potato also. I make homemade

pancakes (those are hard to mess up) and sausage for breakfast. The nice thing

about pancakes is you can freeze a bunch of them ahead of time and microwave

them when you need them.

I can send you a recipe if you like!

out of the question; it seems as if he reacts with any starchy food...

Slice a bannana lengthwise, lighly dust in flour/rice krispies and fry in

vegtable oil in a pan.

For my son, I usually give him a banana (one of his two " allowed " fruit servings

a day under Dr. G) at breakfast and either homemade chicken nuggets (who says

you can't eat them for breakfast?) or a waffle made with potato starch flour. If

your son tolerates it, you can also try plain goat milk yogurt sweetened with

some Splenda. -- Holly

The muffins do sound good and like a way to get some veggies in with minimal

flour. Can you sub white, processed flour? Dr. G might be ok with a little now

and then but I would check.

My son has been on the protocol for 6 years. He's doing great, but I was

allowing too much white flour. We removed all " bad carbs " 2 months ago and the

gains since have been amazing.

Perhaps the coconut flour can be substituted with potato flour... it wont taste

the same, I know, but it could be an option.

Try your daughter on lean meats such as buffallo, antelope or emu.  Not an

everday thing, but they have less fat then chicken and are high in protein.

My daughter has a very large appetite. As a result she eats a lot of protein,

probably double the amount from her calories. Due to her limited diet with

carbs, there is no way to fill her otherwise. Does anyone else have this

problem? I do worry about how much protein she eats and the impact it could have

on her health. Thanks jill

Veggies are “good carbs†and full of fiber and a great way to help fill in

the appetite when you aren’t using a lot of carbs from starches. Carrots,

broccoli (try the shredded kind), cabbage, etc. Some, fruit, too, is ok on the

diet and some are high in fiber. For my son, we picked carrots and served them

EVERY DAY for over a year and now he eats them regularly. Now he is eating

shredded broccoli, too, and will at least taste a lettuce leaf now and again.
