Guest guest
Our paperwork is all in at Dr. G's office. I spoke to a very nice woman on the phone who said they were very backed up and could not look through the pile to see if my son's package was received until Thursday of this week. In the meantime, I thought perhaps I could send out this message about my son's blood work to see if I am missing anything or if there are any red flags that I should be addressing before we ever get in to see Dr. G. Also, I cannot convince anyone here in Orlando to run all of Dr. G's suggested blood work, i.e., viral titers and IGG food panels. Everyone says they are not warranted? Any suggestions??? My son, Liam, is 2.9 years old; weights 24lbs. (has not gained an ounce of weight or an inch of height since 18 months….. can only digest three foods, chicken, winter squash and peeled pears - but eats NO STOP!) and diagnosed as " severe ASD " . We are in the process of having him evaluated by neuro, gastro, and immunology. All of whom have ordered these various blood tests, which (imo) seem to be off, but all say " they are normal " – no further testing required. LACTIC ACID 2.5 (high range) ASO <25 HOMOCYSTEINE 3.3 (low range) RBC 3.82 (low range – repeated three times to be sure; all low) RDW 18.9 (high range - repeated three times to be sure; all high) Neut Ab 1.7 (low – fluctuates, but always low) ANA Negative B12 >2000 (off the scale high, we are NOT supplementing) Folate >70 (off the scale high, we are NOT supplementing) BUN/Creatine 30 (high) CO2 28 (high) MTHFR DOES NOT HAVE MUTATION Allergies Not allergic to wheat or dairy (he is on GF/CF as he gets severe runny stools and runny noses with increased ear infections, etc. if he is even " near " the stuff….I have been accused of denying my son the proper nutrition he deserves!) What are we missing? What else can we check for? I will not give up, just need a little help to see which stones I need to look under. Best wishes to all of us!!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Terri, Dr. G's book talks about some of the blood work " signals, " but I don't know if I'd try to figure out what it means without his input. You're going to have to run the entire panel just after you meet with him, and when his office gives you the blood work requisition form, you should be able to go to a Quest or LabCorps lab or to the hospital to get it done with no problem at all -- if it's ordered by a doctor, they don't ask whether it's warranted or not. Until you get in to see him, you can still do a lot of the protocol and get your son ready to " hit the ground running " when you start working with Dr. G. -- Holly > > Our paperwork is all in at Dr. G's office.
