Guest guest
Hillary, I'm on Plaquenil and Biaxin, and have lots of stomach trouble. Can you tell me what probiotic you took? thanks. Charlotte in Vermont
Guest guest
Charlotte, I am not at home right now, and can't seem to remember the name of the probiotic, I went to a local health food store and asked them for the highest quality that they had. I will check out the name when I get home and let you know tommorow. You have to keep it in the fridge, and I took one pill three times a day, and helped almost instantly. My problem now, is this new antibiotic is kicking my butt!! I am sick to my stomach all the time, I gag very easily, even when I put my toothbrush in my mouth. Doc says I can't take any antacids or it will interfere with the meds. Anyone have any suggestions??? --- CHBasset@... wrote: > Hillary, I'm on Plaquenil and Biaxin, and have lots > of stomach trouble. Guest guest
Hello.. When I first started taking them, I became real ill, so I started as one a day, and then two a day and then three a day. That is about all I can take, as it really upsets my stomach. Brand I take is PB 8. I may change to Kyodophilus next bottle. I really should have taken more, as I was on antibiotics for recurrent UTI, but could not. Guest guest
Julea, I heard about Perfect Stool here and there, always positively. We did well with Culturelle on a bacteria in the colon problem. But that seems to be a particular use for that strain. I was also happy with Florajen acidophilus from our pharmacy. I tried a few others which weren't noticeably bad or good. They might have been working find....right now, we are doing yogurt with probiotics regularly instead of supplements. We didn't have any testing done as they also appeared to only be approximations. But we had serious horrendous stench and bowel problems, so I didn't really need a test to indicate there was a problem. I did chat briefly with Dr Shaw of Great Plains though and he confirmed those symptoms are very characteristic of bacteria. .

Guest guest
I heard that if you stay on a probiotic too long, you're body becomes immune to them, like antibiotics. how often should you change them? Guest guest
Hi, Probiotics are naturally occuring microorganisms which are native to our digestive tracts so I don't know how our bodies could be immune to them. We cannot do without them. bb .................................................................................\ ............... --- Amber Eisler <eislerfamily@...> wrote: > I heard that if you stay on a probiotic too long, > you're body becomes immune > to them, like antibiotics. how often should you > change them? > > On 11/30/05, Amber Eisler <eislerfamily@...> > wrote: > > > > Thanks. Guest guest
Although this is true (what Bonnie wrote below), two things can happen. In people with certain autoimmune diseases such as lupus, antibodies against " good bacteria " in the digestive tract can develop. And secondly, strains of yeast, etc. that can outcompete or persist in the presence of a given probiotic can grow, so rotating different probiotic strains seems like a reasonable solution. I know the first scenario here by personal experience because yogurt bacteria (acidophilus) make me sick with joint pain, etc. for weeks. Peace, Kathy E. > > > Hi, > > Probiotics are naturally occuring microorganisms which > are native to our digestive tracts so I don't know how > our bodies could be immune to them.
