Guest guest
We use Ther-Biotic Detoxification Support from Klaire labs. I am pretty sure we bought it from NEEDS. it has 5+ billion CFU's. Guest guest
In the beginning, we used a very expensive probiotic, Therelac, not Threelac. Then I read Andy's book that said to purchase the cheapest probiotic and used lots of it. We went to Vitamin Shoppe and purchased two, off the shelf probiotics, Kyodophilus and PB-8, and lo and behold, they were just as effective as the Therelac. To be fair, we never had huge issues with yeast. [ ] Digest Number 7792
Guest guest
The believe Primal Defense is a far better product by Garden of Life. The seconds are Natren starter pack and Lactebacious GG. PB8 did nothing to prevent C Diff while doing antibiotic treatment for me. julie genser <j_genser@...> wrote: Has anyone tried the probiotic PB8 recommended on page 174 of Healing Lyme? Guest guest
After trying a few brands/ liquids/ refrigerated and not, I just found out that Theralac works very well, but it costs quite some money. I didn't try Buhner's suggestion though... It's made by human bacteries, does not necessarily need to be refrigerated, but I do keep it in the refrigerator. It's potent. Take a look at lymenet, many lymees have very positive experiences with it. Guest guest
In Liven is the pro biotic I use. It is the only organicly grown probiotic in the world (i think) its made in australia. it is not a surefire cure for anything, but It is the best one i have used. I have smoothies every day for breakfast so its easy for me to take, and you can sprinkle it on any food you wish. it is not cheap, but quality is what you are paying for. Here is one website that gives all the info you need, sometimes you can get it on ebay for cheaper than someother sites. It is also considered a super food because it has so much good stuff in it. www.buyorganicskincare.com/site/1304246/page/48173

Guest guest
That was what I was told many and many times again. I only used refrigerated stuff then, either powdered or in liquids, all expensive supps. But Theralac looks superior to anything I tested before, and it does not necessarily need to be refrigerated. It costs a lot, but it worths as sometimes you just need 2-3 capsules a week. I suppose that the fact that it is made with human bacteries makes effect much better?? I find it though quite expensive, specially for us here in Europe that have to get it imported from the US. I still use a mix of other probiotics then, all refrigerated, in between Theralac capsules. My daughter was diagnosed with yeast and was having literally liquid stools. Her stools were normalized in less than 3 days with Theralac and the naturopath found no more yeast after a about 2 weeks on it. She was on 2 different refrigerated probiotics until then (one liquid, one powdered). That's why I believe Theralac is superior. Guest guest
That is what I thought as well, until ... I was told by a store manager that vitamins are not warehoused in a refrigerated unit before they are sent out to the stores, just a huge warehouse. When they are put into the cold units in the HFS that is the first time they are refrigerated. Guest guest
I give my son " Primadophilus " for kids made by Nature's Way. (It has to be refrigerated.) It comes in powder or chewable tablet forms. Vitacost has it. Or check a health food store in their refrigerated section. Guest guest
If you are looking for a chewable product, Houston Nutraceuticals and Kirkman Labs both have one. The Houston was is quite tasty, but I think the Kirkman one is more powerful. I just ordered that one, so I can't vouch for taste yet. I do hear it's good. Culturelle is a good one if you can swallow capsules. in NJ > > I am looking to switch the brand of probiotics that I give to my > daughter. Guest guest
My child is on culturelle and terabiotic from Klaire Labs, he takes several a day given his tendency to develop Candida. Now we are starting him in PRIMAL DEFENSE from Garden Life Products. The good about this one is that he has just to take one or two a day and they have it for children. This one includes among some vegetearian ingredients, about 12 different some good bacteria necessary for keeping the good balance of the intestines. It has been used to cure chrons decease. Actually everybody in our family is taking this probiotic now, it helps a lot for a good intestinal function.- -- In , " Katrina " <kat_vaughn@...> wrote: > > I am looking to switch the brand of probiotics that I give to my > daughter. Guest guest
My son takes Primal Defense also, we use the powder version and mix it in banana baby food with his other suppliments. It does not have much of a taste and has the consistancy of ashes (although it looks like dirt). It has done wonders for his system. > > > > I am looking to switch the brand of probiotics that I give to my > > daughter. Guest guest
Liz, IF your kid has a yeast problem, probiotics will normally cause die-off symptoms and/or changes in their BM's. Generally, die-off symptoms can be cold-like ie stuffy nose, malaise etc. or in my experience, hyperness for a few days and lots of nasty yellow poop-diarrhea etc. I suspected my son had a yeast problem but wasn't sure. I gave him plain whole milk yogurt with nothing added (he isn't CF) and oh my goodness. I had bouncy boy for 3 days AND diarrhea/yellow poop for 2 weeks. However, his bright red/rough cheeks, sleep problems, red anus ring were greatly reduced after that and " he woke up " is what the therapists said. Much better attention and focus. I now have him on daily yogurt/probiotics/candidase to keep the yeast under control. Each child tends to have individual symptoms of yeast and if those symptoms go away, you know the probiotic is working. Guest guest
So for your noncasein free guy the yellow poop ened with the yogurt remaining in the diet? epoxycozy wrote: >Liz, > >IF your kid has a yeast problem, probiotics will normally cause die-off >symptoms and/or changes in their BM's. Guest guest
Candidase is a yeast fighting enzyme made by Enzymedica. My understanding is that it physically " eats " the little houses that the yeast live in which then allows the probiotics to more easily populate the GI tract. You give it on an empty stomach and away from probiotics. Another brand I've heard good things about is Candex by Pure Essence. You can get both of these on the vitamin websites (Vitacost, Vitaminshoppe, Iherb)and in places like Whole Foods and Lassens (health food store). No side effects (except maybe die-off) and doesn't have to be rotated in and out like many antifungals. Guest guest
Liz, Yup. Yellow poop means yeast at my house. DS eats about 1/2 cup whole milk, 1 cup of plain whole yogurt, and averages 1 oz of cheese every day (BTW these are mostly organic). When yeast is under control, poop is a nice brown color and mostly firm. When he is yeasty it gets yellowish and " fluffy " , he gets itchy (but no noticeable rash), rubs his nose alot even though he isn't congested, very sensitive-more tantrums/meltdowns, and even sleep problems occasionally. We have had everything from nice BM's daily to loose stools 2-3 times/day while on milk so that doesn't seem to be the problem. I did do a 3 week dairy elimination when DS was about 15 months old because of his eczema with no changes upon elimination or when I reintroduced it. He also is IgE negative for milk allergy. DS does have a peanut allergy, and I would bet other food sensitivies/intolerances that we haven't been able to pin down. We are going to be starting digestive enzymes soon to see if that helps. Guest guest
Hi , There are many good products on the market - I use Bio-Acidophilus from Biocare, because I know Biocare to be an excellent company, and this particular product is formulated to withstand the strong stomach acids and go to work where the little guys are needed ... in the intestines. Happens to be on a special offer too )) http://www.health4youonline.com/health_supplements_biocare_bioacidophilus_b16860.htm I hope you are not affected badly by the postal strike in Ireland if you wanted to buy something off the net. You should be able to get this product however from a good local health food shop. Beware - this particular product needs to be kept in the fridge at all times. I would take it for at least one week after a course of antibiotics, but you can take it for as long as you like - it can only help, particularly if you happen to have any GI probs in general. Good luck ;o)
