Hi Berenice I have Bipolar disorder, and am far more likely depressed than mildly or moderately manic. Feeling depressed, can feel like you are moving through slow motion, stuck in quicksand, or like you are at the bottom of a black hole. No mood, no matter how terrible, can stay with any of us forever. But, it can be so hard to wait for a change. Lamictal, an anti-seizure medication, has been a miracle medication for me. I take multiple other medications, to manage my disorder, and chronic pain. That's my story, not yours. I am certainly not suggesting that you are Bipolar too. Just telling you I hear you, about feeling depressed. I am very glad to hear that the anti-depressants are helping you. Winter, can be a very hard time for those of us who tend toward depression, even without adding chronic pain to it. How much sun do you get where you live? I see that your email address, is from the UK. I know it was so much harder, when I lived in the state of Ohio. The months of Jan-April, could be dark, and full of nasty cold icy rain. It made everyone cranky, and down in the dumps. Moving out West, to Montana has really helped. We rarely have more than 2-3 gloomy days at a time. Your doctor, can also prescribe a light box, (as in sunlight), that can relieve SAD (seasonal affective disorder) if you are someone who is are afflicted by it. It's very important to follow the directions, and only get one that your doctor prescribes. There are plenty of con artists out there, as we all know too well. I am so glad that you will be starting counseling soon. Counseling has been a life saver for me. Waiting all those months, must have felt like an eternity for you. The system, can be so slow. I commend you for getting in line, and not giving up. Take good care of yourself. Watch comedies on TV, or reading a funny book from the library. Dave Berry, writes many funny books here in the states. Your librarian, should be able to recommend some funny short stories for you to read. Just call, and see if they can have a few at the desk for you. Your library might also have comedy tapes for you to listen to, and a selection of DVDs too. We have them here in the states, at our libraries, and they are free, just the right price. I hope you feel better soon. Your post, was definitely not a rant. We are here for you. Write to us, and tell us how you are progressing. Kaylene Moderator ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals?
