Hi Lynn how did your Birthday go? Did you do anything that day?

It has been a long time since I last went to the MS meeting in

Greenfield but I got this info from Joe and I may try to go to this one

especially if I may get some money from it, at least it would help pay

for my gas to get there.

Hello Joe –

Good luck with tonight’s meeting!

I have another idea to bounce off of you, perhaps this could be a topic

the evening I come to visit on May 18.

I have a doctoral student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health interested in

conducting a small study, among people with MS. She would like to speak

to NMSS self-help groups in Indiana (preferably with at least 10-15

attendees) to provide information about the study and to recruit

interested participants. (Our Chapter’s Advisory Committee has approved

this.)

The study will examine the relationship between MS symptoms and physical

activity. Participants will be asked to complete a packet of

questionnaires and to wear an accelerometer during the waking hours of

the next 7 days. The questionnaire packet contains 14 measurement scales

assessing symptoms and functional capacity. The accelerometer is a small

device, worn on a belt around the waist, that measures a person's

physical activity. All materials will be provided through the mail,

along with an addressed pre-paid envelop for returning the study

materials. Participants will be paid $10 for completing the

questionnaires and wearing the accelerometer.

If agreeable to you and your group, could accompany me on May 18.

She would need about 20-30 min total to describe the study, answer

questions, provide questionnaires to those interested, and hand out the

accelerometers to those participating.

Joe, let me know your thoughts. There is absolutely no obligation on

your part to allow to speak to your group, but if you think it is

of interest, I can facilitate her getting there.

Thanks, Joe, for all you do!

Jean
