For some people it's really helpful. It helped me short term, but in the end, I had to have the pressure relieved surgically. It's been 16 years since that surgery and the sciatic problems have never returned. Hopefully, you can find a way to treat yours without taking massive doses of meds. I've found pain meds don't work all that well for that particular kind of pain. Perhaps someone in the group has had some luck controlling sciatic pain with one of the nerve pain medications.
