I'm sure some of you old timers are weary of seeing Netiquette

reminders. Unfortunately, several people in the group are not doing

their part to keep the posts and digests truly readable for all. So

yet again, there is more work for the volunteer moderators. Here's

some help/advice for the new folks and for some of the not so new

folks:

Please do not type in computer shorthand. Type the word " you, " rather

than just inserting the letter U. The same goes for the word " are "

instead of R and the word " please " etc. Please take the time to type

words such as with and without. We have a number of low vision members

who use computer programs to read the mail aloud to them. Not all

programs are fancy enough to pick up on plz, u r, w/, kwim, etc.

If your fingers still work, please use capital letters at the start of

each sentence. Posts with no capital letters are more difficult to

read, than posts written the normal way. Please use periods at the end

of your sentences!!

Silly as this may sound – please post in paragraphs. There are people

who will type two hundred lines of text and not put one paragraph

break in anywhere. Unless a person has very, very good vision and a

lot of patience, those posts are almost impossible to read. If you

want your words of wisdom to be read by everyone – use fairly short

paragraphs. Don't make a paragraph 40 lines long.

Please use commas and periods in your posts. Some people really like

to use ............ instead of commas and periods. This makes the

text wrap go kerfluey when the post hits the web site. The English

rule is one blank space after a comma and two blank spaces after a

period. This will make your posts much easier to read.

That's it for today.

Thanks
