Guest guest
just got Buhners new book, hot off the press, " herbal antibiotics, second edition " , it is excellent as expected and spends a lot of time on non antimicrobial supporting herbs as well. First thing I saw when I opened it- Lymers (Im of celtic ancestery and prefer not to refer to myself as a Lymie- ha) should avoid taking artemisinin for longer than one week as it is neurotoxic in extended high doses (though " extremely safe " with correct useage, which he says is about 1200 mg over each day for one week). He suggests cryptolepis and boneset for stubborn babesia instead. Crypto is available from www.greendragonbotanicals.com and makes me have a myco herx. Which brings me to my second finding which is that this book has a lot of suggestions for mycoplasma and other gram positive bacteria, which I havent found much information on on the internet. He goes into detail on supporting herbs for chronic infection patients. I have been using eleuthero or siberian ginseng since I got sick this spring and I believe it has helped me tremendously now that it has been several months and I have started taking the full large doses of the 2:1 tinc he recommends for the chronically ill. I have as much energy now as I have in years although I still have a pretty large lyme infection and I think it is very good for my outlook and ability to fight the infection. I would be willing to bet this would be perfect for many on this site who cant kick the cycle or get that last 10 percent. It is also an immune system tonic, adaptogen, antidepressant, mental clarity stimulant and it has been found completely nontoxic at massive doses even continued for 20 years (by the Russians). Buhner says up to a teaspoon three times per day for sixty days. then stop for two weeks and repeat if needed/desired. I am into my second week off it and think I might not need it again, though I will continue it anyway, because it is so good for the immune system etc. Meanwhile fatigue had been my dominant symptom of lyme for eight years! The book is good. red root, ginger, mushrooms, all pure love for chronic infections.
