I dont use either of these because I remember learning in high school that many of the minerals and vitamins arent absorbed until the intestines, and even the lower intestine. Anyway I just worry about people binding and dumping their minerals which are essential to life, not to mention detoxification. Does anyone have good information, or tested proof that this doesnt happen?

I looked fairly briefly online but only found studies referring to use of organic toxin binders in livestock.

But today I went to the vet and my little dog Sque tested positive for anaplasmosis again :( . It took them ten minutes and they came back with something that looked like a godam pregnancy test and even mentioned that the levels are high! So maybe animal studies are our best bet. I had never even heard of anaplasma until she got it the first time and its only been mentioned in a couple books and articles Ive read since.

One thing thats cool is that good bacteria in the colon seem to bind mycotoxins as well as produce vitamins and absorbable minerals.

Ive also wondered if binders do anything, because its not like they are filtering air or water, its feces and maybe they just get filled with whatever. This study seems to support this idea.

Im fairly conflicted about ingesting anything besides food, herbs and trace minerals, since thats all were probably meant to or evolved to do. I dump all my capsules out except the few foul tasting. I dropped half a cap in the sink one time it grew to like tin times its origional size.

Anyway, just wondering if there is much conclusive evidence on binders.

And I hope people are being prudent and suplimenting well and opposite times of any binders. Also be careful of glucomannon tablets I heard they can get stuck to your esophegus and other walls as they suck in water, potentially causing serious problems. I mix a couple grams of powder in water and it will turn a whole glass into gel in ten minutes, so I drink it after thirty seconds or so.

Thanks, Cameron

I don't use binders either, but I am sure that there is a necessity for them for

some people. Like you state - if a person is constipating that it is obvious

that there digestive system could use the help... Blessings, Meo

Hi Cameron,

First, always drink at least 8 oz of water or more when taking Glucomannan...

I take 3 capsules 1 hour before each meal, start with 1 before each meal,

scale up to 3 before each meal over about a weeks time...

Take care,

Jim
