Guest guest
I had to endure the same exact Psychiatric exam prior to the approval of the installation of my Spinal Cord Stimulator. Actually, I felt it was a waste of my time and my Insurance Company's money. The cost for my pre-stimulator psych eval was $400.00. Praise the Lord for Insurance. I had the exam in January of 2007 and my Stimulator was implanted in February. Unfortunately, I had several complications with mine and had to have 5 total surgeries. My temporary trial, the permanent implant, an adjustment, a pulling back of one of my leads that had migrated over to a nerve root (OUCH), and then the final re-implantation. I don't blame anyone, especially my physician, because I am just one of those people that if something should only take once, it takes two or three times for me to have success. Once the device was in place, programmed and working good, I only got about a 50% decrease in pain. We proceded with the implantation of the permanent stimulator only because, for some unknown reason, I got about an 80% decrease in pain. My physician compared all of my films and CT Scams from before and after and the wires all lined up perfectly with the temporary placement, but like I said, I am one of those people that if it can go wrong, it will. My doctor has a nickname for me. He calls me " Challenge " . I have had about 25 pain management procedures, several of them two or three times, and they either don't work or only work for a very limited time. I am now about to undergo another extensive surgery. This time I am going to have my left Ilioinguinal Nerve either severed or disected, as that appears to be the source of my pain. I plan on keeping my stimulator until long after this surgery to insure that the pain is definetly gone before I have it removed, if ever. Ok, I'm finished posting my novel. Somehow I got on a roll after discussing my stimulator. Sorry. tmclarkrn - >ron Pat wrote: > I had to do the pysch thing also, And I'm still On > blue cross. My PM doctor said he wanted to get this done fast.
